Guest suite in Portland
Description
The suite is the second floor of an historic 1907 brick house, designed by John Calvin Stevens, and includes two bedrooms, a big living room (with sofa bed), little dining room, and a park view, but no kitchen. The front door is your private entrance and your driveway with no common spaces. At the end of the driveway is a spacious garden. It's next to a 54-acre historic park with a playground and wading pool. In good weather, there is sometimes a sizable group of homeless nearby by as well. The space The three beds are covered with down comforters from Cuddledown, with seersucker or sateen cotton duvet covers for summer and plaid flannel in cooler weather. Under the mattress pads are American-made Dream Foam Gel Swirl memory foam toppers, to make each bed exquisitely comfortable. The high-quality 100% cotton percale sheets are a NYT Wirecutter top recommendation, from L.L. Bean, as are the Frontgate towels. The small microwave, mini-fridge and coffee maker are inside a built-in linen closet. Flatware, dishes, cups and other items are in the top cupboard, and a dish-rack and dishpan are in the bathroom. The rubber mat fits in the lower part of the table next to the bathroom sink to wash dishes, but there is no kitchen sink. Wine glasses and a cheese board are in a glass-door cupboard in the dining room -- the corkscrew is on top. The house is located on a busy street. The end of the day usually means the traffic quiets down. If you are used to rural quiet, the noise may bother you. There are disposable ear plugs for your use in the bathroom cupboard.
