Rancho Escogido in Santa Ynez. 2 Bedroom, 1 Bath Guesthouse on a Horse Ranch. We are perfectly located to relax, enjoy and explore our beautiful Santa Ynez Valley! We are located in the heart of the valley, within minutes of the towns of Los Olivos, Santa Ynez, and Solvang and only 10 minutes to Buellton. The close proximity to local first class wineries and restaurants, stunning ranches, peaceful hiking trails and endless miles of bike riding is one of the huge benefits of our location. Our Guesthouse is attached to the Ranch’s Main House, yet it has its own unique ambience. We live in the main house, plus there is a separate guest house on the property that is rented to full-time tenants. There is plenty of outside lawn seating with views of the nearby mountains. Sunsets are stunning! We have 4 adirondack chairs with pillows and a basket of blankets set up around a fire pit for you to enjoy the views. It is one of our favorite spots to sit and sip. At night we have a dark sky and the star watching is fabulous. It feels like you can touch the Milky Way! We have a pool that is available for your use. It is shared with us. The pool area by the airbnb guesthouse has 4 lounge chairs with umbrellas and a sitting area for your use. From the poolside you can see the horses grazing in the pastures just a few feet away. The views of our beautiful hills are seen from here too. The other end of the pool area has couches reserved only for our use. The pool is not heated in the winter, but it is perfect in the hot Santa Ynez summer! We do have pool towels available for you. There is a fence and a child-proof gate at the pool. No children should be unattended at the pool for safety reasons. The Ranch is 5 acres with a very large barn and 7 Quarter Horses who are usually very happy and out in the pastures. Feel free to ask to walk down and say hi and take photos but please never feed them. Please do not let children go into the horse turnout areas unattended for their safety. You may see the horses in the arena getting ready for a competition cattle event. From time-to-time, the horses are trailered off to ride in other places, so you may see an occasional truck and trailer coming and going. Because we are a working horse ranch, feeding time takes place twice a day; however, we try to minimize any noise from this as much as possible. We have 1 small cattle dog mix that sometimes roams around, and 5 barn kitties that keep our property free from mice! They are somewhat tame and you might get a pet in. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, plus you have a BBQ for you to use. The House has WiFi and tv. We have a small desk work area set up in the large bedroom, so working from here or from the kitchen table with views, is a real option. We provide floor fans and a portable AC unit is available for the occasional super hot day. Evenings are very comfortable, so simply opening windows in the evening (and closing windows in the morning) will keep the temperature comfortable. In the colder times we have central heat. We do allow ONE small/medium adult dog provided he/she is well mannered. Our 5 barn cats are a little skittish with new dogs so we ask that you please keep your dog on a leash at all times while on the property. Please pick up your poop. We have extra poop bags in the guesthouse , and dog bowls available. Please do let us know if you are planning to bring your dog, and a little about him/her.
