Description
Convalmore House is a traditional cosy detached home built in the 1890's, and was once the distillery managers house of the Convalmore Distillery. It is very spacious with 4 large bedrooms, livingroom, snug, kitchen and dining room. There are two family bathrooms, and a separate toilet on the ground floor, a large private garden as well as a private car park. Perfect location for visiting the famous distilleries in the Speyside area, including Glenfiddich, Balvenie, Aberlour and Macallan. The space The cosy detached Scottish house is very spacious with a traditional feel to it, with 4 large bedrooms (2 x King, 1 x double and 2 x single), livingroom, the snug room (an additional livingroom), kitchen, utility room (new Samsung washing machine and tumble dryer) and a large separate dining room. There are two main family bathrooms (2 x showers and a bath), as well as a separate toilet on the ground floor. The kitchen has a new induction Rangemaster cooker to cater for large family/friends dinner preparations. There is a private garden and car parking area that is secure with CCTV. We have provided a number of board games for nights in with family and friends including Yahtzee, Monopoly (Speyside edition), Cranium and Articulate to name a few. The house is suitable for families or groups and is a great base for the Whisky Trail, the Moray Coast, The Isla Way and surrounding areas. There are castles, distilleries, hill walking, historical sites, waterfalls (The Linn Falls and Linen Apron Falls), museums and highland games to name a few. Dufftown town centre and its distinctive clock tower is a 22 minute walk from the house with a number of amenities and conveniences, including The Whisky Shop, and traditional public houses, cafes and shops. The Sidings Cafe at the old Dufftown train station is a short 5 minute walk out the back garden gate which is great for coffee/tea and cake or lunch. Dufftown hosts a number of annual events, such as the Dufftown Highland Games (Last Saturday in July since 1892), the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, Autumn Speyside Whisky Festival (Last full Weekend in September), and Hogmanay Ceilidh (New Years Eve), all of which are conveniently located to the house. Every Monday, there is an evening of traditional Scottish Music and Song (called a Stramash) at the Royal British Legion Lounge, starting at around 19.30 (please check event information with venue). You can take your musical instruments along or simply join as a spectator. And every Thursday, there is a Ceilidh Night (traditional Scottish dancing) at British Legion or Commercial Hall (alternate weeks) that start at 8pm and a Cinema Night on the 3rd Saturday of every month (check latest event dates with venue). The Cairngorms National Park and Balmoral Castle is within 50 minutes drive from Convalmore House with many outdoor activities to choose from. It is a mecca for outdoors people with all sorts of sporting activities on offer, on the mountain, down in the valley, on the golf course or on your bike, there is something for everyone. The Cairngorms National Park has outdoor activities for all levels of experience, just choose what suits you. If you are wanting something more physical, you can contact House of Mullben to arrange clay pigeon/air rifle shooting, archery, and trout fishing. Or try Disc/Frisbee Golf with all the family at Ace Adventures. And there is of course the famous River Spey for Scottish salmon fishing! Guest access Guests will have full exclusive and sole use of the entire house and garden.
