Welcome to this unique combination of an Idyllwild woodsy cabin and your own private Hawaiian tropical tiki treehouse! The Cozy Lodge & Tiki Treehouse sits down off a private, quiet, unpaved dirt road. The lodge is a 250sq ft cozy studio-guest cabin decorated with Idyllwild vintage decor and is backed up onto a secluded forest corridor with the tiki bar just a few steps away (think Pirates of the Caribbean meets Swiss Family Robinson). 5 min drive into the heart of Idy. Pet friendly/no pet fees. The space The Lodge: the room has a queen bed, side tables, vintage Idyllwild Pine Craft chair as well as vintage Idyllwild decorations, dresser, TV with DVD player(no cable), electric fireplace heater, and window air conditioner. The bathroom has a walk in shower, sink-vanity and a "Green" compost toilet....we call it "The Hog". There is also the conveniences of a microwave oven, mini refrigerator, teapot, Keurig coffee maker, as well as snacks, plastic and paper eating utensils, coffee and tiki mugs, etc.***There is no stove or kitchen***. The view out the side window is the forest corridor and outside the front of Cozy Lodge is the tiki bar and our home. Your private tiki bar is just a few steps away from the lodge. The tiki treehouse deck structure is a fun, relaxing, tropical refuge: a place to read, enjoy a meal and/or drinks, and just be(the tiki bathroom is not in service for guest use). Hawaiian and lounging music, a blender, and games are also supplied. ***The tiki treehouse was built by tiki builder legend Bamboo Ben. Enjoy! Guest access Cozy Lodge is to the left of our home, all the way down the driveway. **MOBILITY ISSUES: we have a steep driveway and please read about the compost toilet to be sure this is the right fit for you--the toilet is a bit high and you will need to step up on the provided 2 steps(no handrail). You must be able to turn a crank attached to the toilet. Also, be aware that some planks and rock steps can be uneven in and around the tiki and for your safety, do not lean on the bamboo slats along the railings. Again, we have a somewhat steep driveway that curves to the side of the Cozy Lodge. If you don't want to tackle the driveway, or if you have a low bottom car, you can park at the top of our driveway as well. Guests have access to the cabin-studio, driveway for parking and walking access, and outside seating area. Also, we don't rent out the other outbuildings so guests have private access to the Tiki treehouse for your tropical pleasure. **For any last minute, late night bookings--We normally try to have the lights on and heater/AC going if needed for all evening arrivals but if you book last minute at night or on the rare occurrence that we are out of town, we may be unavailable and you will need to turn them on yourselves as well as navigate parking. There are flood lights on the property to assist you and you can always call if need be, if we don't initially respond to a text late at night. Winter Season- At times, the weather makes our dirt road too difficult to drive for a vehicle that is not 4-wheel drive. Since the weather forecast can't be assured until your arrival, we will give "weather updates" if it looks like extreme weather (snow-heavy rain) is arriving. We will communicate to you options and information. Other things to note CHECK IN: 3:00pm...CHECK OUT: 11:00am. Please communicate to us your approximate arrival time. CHECK IN: The Lodge door will be unlocked and the key will be on the key hooks just inside the door. Make yourself at home, check out your surroundings (including tiki treehouse). Welcome and enjoy! CHECK OUT- Please try to leave the lodge they way you first found it. We will take care of the sheets, towels, and trash for you. If there are spills, stains, and/or a pet accident, please let us know so we can take care of it right away. Extra cleaning may result in additional fees. Upon your departure, please turn off the heater/AC, leave the door unlocked, and shoot us a text to let us know you have checked out. We hope to see you again! : ) We believe in improving our environment, health and quality of life and The Cozy Lodge of Idyllwild has two components that help us do this! 1. "THE HOG" or the "green" compost toilet. Don't be intimidated by this toilet! Follow the easy to understand directions displayed. If you're not used to how a compost toilet works, PLEASE READ THE TOILET ("The Hog") INSTRUCTIONS POSTED ABOVE THE TOILET. TURN CRANK CLOCKWISE TO THE OPEN POSITION BEFORE GOING TO THE BATHROOM. There may be an odor when in use but if used properly, once in the closed position, turn the fan on, and the electric current will do it's job. If not used properly, the odor will persist. Please contact us right away if you have any questions/concerns regarding "The Hog." Please also note that the electrical current for "The Hog" makes a constant low humming sound...that means it's working. 2. SHOWER-HOT WATER- The hot water heater for The Cozy Lodge at Idyllwild only holds 20 gallons, which is about 10 min of hot water at a time. However, because it's small, it will heat back up again quickly. DOGS- We love being a "Dog Friendly" accommodation for you! We also know we are taking a chance in that while most of your pups are perfect guests, some may not be the ideal guests and may potty, scratch, etc. Please be respectful and clean up after your dog (if they are not an "ideal' guest) and also communicate to us if you find your dog has "left their mark" within our lodge. This way we can truly do right to make sure things are appropriate for future guests. We also have two lovable dogs that may bark "Hello" throughout your stay: Beauty (big) and Snug (little). We do our best to have them not disturb you during your time here. :)
