Private basement suite available in spacious, owner-occupied, 1903 Craftsman House. The house is located on the Capitol Hill/Central District/First Hill border, making it an easy walk or bus ride to all that downtown and Capitol Hill have to offer. It is also just two blocks from Seattle University and within walking distance of many bus stops, the street car, and link light rail. The space **Please note this listing is for a private basement suite that has low ceilings and is recommended for guests 6' or less in height.** The private suite is accessed through the basement of the house. About 1/2 of the basement is a shared common space with a game room (partially being used for storage), laundry, and workbench. The unit itself is private and can be locked from both inside and outside with the provided key. Note that you will have to walk through the common area to get to the unit and that right now the common area is a bit messy as I am just finishing up a major home remodel. The private unit has a kitchenette, living room, bedroom and full bathroom. The kitchenette is equipped with a fridge, microwave, two-burner cooktop, pots & pans, glasses, silverware, etc. The living room has a table and chairs, a couch, end table, TV, and there are also some maps and area guidebooks for guests to use. The bedroom has a large closet (~5ft of hanging space) with a built in shelf. It is furnished with a full bed, beside table, and lamp. The bathroom is stocked with extra toiletries in case you run out or forget something. The unit is small but more than sufficient for a short term stay. Please note that it has low ceilings and while most of the unit is 7', the bedroom is only 6' 1", so I would not recommend booking it if you are over 6ft tall. There is one window in the bedroom which is equipped with privacy glass, blinds, and blackout curtains to be used at your convenience. The house has central heat, but an additional electric heater with thermostat is provided in the unit for additional temperature control. Given the unit is half underground, it stays quite temperate throughout the year. Additionally, there is wireless internet as well as hard wired ethernet ports throughout the unit. There's also a washer and dryer in the basement that are free to use. The game room also boasts a fully functional shuffleboard table, darts, and a dumbbell set which you are welcome to use. Street parking is available, but it can be hard to find at certain times, especially Friday and Saturday nights. Please let me know if you will require parking as I may need to procure a guest pass for you. Guest access You'll have access to the entire basement, both the private unit and shared common space. Other things to note - The common space part of the basement is a bit messy at the moment as I am just finishing up a large home remodel. Please be aware that though the private unit will be clean, the rest of the basement may not. - I live upstairs and make every effort to be as quiet as possible, but you might hear us and our dogs from time to time. - There are three very sweet dogs that live in the house upstairs that will jump up to greet you if you happen to meet them. Therefore it is preferable that all guests are comfortable with dogs. - This house is in the city and two blocks from a University therefore you may hear some street noise. If you are not accustomed to such noise, ear plugs are provided in the bedroom. - Please coordinate check-in time with me. Often you can check in earlier or later than than the listed check in time.
