Simple but Wonderful Hut in Kamp Makandi Boto-Pasi

Description

Welcome to my home in Botopasi. I am Spenky, your host, guide and cook. Staying here is more than just having a room – it is an experience of discovery, relaxation, and adventure in the Surinamese rainforest. The cabin is located at the edge of the village Botopasi, about 100 meters from the river and right next to the forest. Here you find peace, away from crowds of tourists, and very close to local life. The space The cabin is simple but cozy. It has two double beds with mosquito nets and storage space for clothes. There is a dividing wall between the beds. The toilet and shower are outside, right behind the cabin. The house is built in a traditional Saramaccan way. Around it I created a small park with trees and plants. There is also a beautiful terrace with a big table and a hammock where you can relax, eat, read, or drink a beer. My land is full of trees, and in the right season you can enjoy fresh fruits. At night you hear the sounds of the forest and can admire the Milky Way. During the day you can refresh yourself in the river, just 100 meters away. Thanks to new solar installations, there is electricity all day. Guest access You have access to the cabin, the garden, the terrace, and the whole village. You are free to explore the area, enjoy the nature around you, or walk into the village to meet people. In the village you find a small supermarket with basic things like beer and China noodles. Because the village is remote, please bring your own food supplies or a filter bottle for drinking water. You can cook yourself in the kitchen – the 15 EUR fee covers the gas – or let me cook for you. I enjoy preparing tasty meals with local ingredients: 30 EUR per person per day for three meals. As a local tour guide, I am happy to take you on tours and activities in and around Botopasi: Rainforest hiking with explanations about plants and animals – 40 EUR per person Fishing trips – 25 EUR per person Visit to a traditional Saramaccan village with insights into customs and traditions – 35 EUR per person Overnight stay in the rainforest in your own hammock (best with mosquito net) including meals – 80 EUR per person Visit to the Maroon Museum (including organization, boat ride or two-hour walk, and ticket) – 25 EUR per person Nighttime caiman spotting tour, combined with stargazing and the forest sounds – 25 EUR per person I love to connect guests with the local community and share how life in Botopasi works. Other things to note Electricity 24/7 Mosquito nets provided Small supermarket in the village with basic supplies (beer and China noodles) Please bring drinking water or a filter bottle Accommodation price covers the stay only – meals and tours are paid separately Your visit also helps to support the local village
