You'll feel right at home in this bright modern and new carriage house. We offer contactless check-in to your very own private cottage on the edge of the city, nestled under soaring 200 year old oaks in a quiet, central neighborhood- less than 15 minute drive from the hustle and bustle of downtown Victoria and world famous Butchart Gardens! Our open concept cottage boasts vaulted ceilings, skylights, full kitchen, TV, laundry, a patio and free parking- everything needed for a relaxing retreat! The house is completely self-contained- built new in 2017. It is spacious (800 sq. feet), clean, bright and well appointed- featuring 16 foot vaulted ceilings and a large, full height open loft. You can expect quiet nights and total privacy in your own separate space. Sitting in the living room you can stare up through the skylights to the 100 foot oak trees that reach around and over the house...or, perhaps just curl up on the sectional and watch TV or play XBox on the 42" plasma screen. The house is fully equipped with all the soaps, towels, linens, toilet paper, dishes and utensils you will likely need. We also provide complimentary coffee, tea and a few basic breakfast items to get you started. If you need something just ask- we likely have it right next door! Each bedroom has a queen size bed with black-out blinds, a brand new mattress and luxurious microfiber sheets. Throw carpets over hardwood floors create a warm inviting space. Dressers and closets are available to tuck things away. The master bedroom is off the main floor with the second bedroom, office area and laundry facilities upstairs in the spacious loft. The 3rd bed is a single mattress, tucked neatly under the loft's queen size bed. The 4th bed is a comfy pull out queen bed in the living room. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full size stove, fridge and freezer and farmhouse sink. Views of the back garden and 12 foot ceilings flood the space with light. You can choose to eat at the separate dining table or use the stools at the kitchen island and enjoy the view. French doors lead to a small back patio with seating for 2 so you can enjoy a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. If you are bringing kids then they will love the 3 tree swings right out the back door. Our family friendly hound doesn't see that well- so she might bark at you at first, but she is quick to make new friends! If dogs are not your thing then let us know and we'll happily keep her away as much as possible. The whole house is yours to enjoy, including the small rear patio area adjacent to the house. A custom door code is created for each visit and provided in advance so you can check-in and out on your own schedule, whenever it is convenient for you! We want to cater to the stay you're looking for and are entirely respectful of your space; the guest house is your private space for the whole duration of your stay and we want you to feel like it is your own private home or cottage. If you'd like to keep to yourself, we get it and will totally respect your privacy-in fact, many guests we don't even get the chance to meet! However, if you'd like to ask us for anything, we are really outgoing hosts and are happy to share directions to our favorite beaches, restaurants, hikes and activities around the region. The neighborhood is quiet with a positive vibe and lots of kids playing in the streets. The house itself is on a small cul-de-sac with ample free parking directly out front. In terms of location, you'll find you are quite literally right in the middle of some of the best things the region has to offer. Being on the edge of Downtown Victoria means with just a 2 minute drive will be onto the main roads that take you to all the major destinations in the region- no need to cross through town or get out of town first to see the sights! Across the street is Christmas Hill nature sanctuary, and a 10 minute walk will get you to the top of one of the best 360 degree views of all of Victoria- truly breathtaking and worth the short climb. Continue your hike down the backside of Christmas Hill and you'll find yourself on the boardwalks of Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary. Most of our guests find a car is the best way to get around. Public transit is easily accessed with a 4 min walk to the #6 Quadra. It comes very frequently and takes you all the way downtown (or out of town too!) -We are under 5 minutes drive to Uptown Mall, Mayfair Mall, Elk & Beaver Lake and Mount Doug Park. -10 minutes driving to get to UVic, Victoria General Hospital, Mayfair Mall, Camosun College (either campus), PISE, Caddy Bay Beach and the West Shore. -Under 15 minutes to downtown Victoria, the Coho Ferry, the airport (YYJ), world famous Butchart Gardens and the town of Sidney ( which has a great summer market!) -20 minutes to the Swartz Bay ferry terminal *Traffic can be a problem in parts of Victoria at certain times of day, but we are located well outside of Victoria's 'Colwood Crawl'. *Our neighborhood is great for walking- has parks and trails, but the nearest corner store or shop is a 20 minute walk so most of our guests find a car the easiest option. The second bedroom and office are upstairs and tucked away from the main living area. It is a private space, but not separated by an actual door. Also, please note there is a large friendly Irish Wolfhound roaming the backyard. "Frankie” may peer in your windows or perhaps bark a 'hello' at you but she is friendly :)
