Secure and gated building in old New Orleans style. Explore everything Historic downtown has to offer and never get in your car! We're just moments by foot from the historic Riverwalk, great restaurants, shops, museums, breweries, and nightlife. The space Located in a former livery (carriage stable) constructed in 1914, this unique 350 square foot studio is now part of a New Orleans style building. The space has high ceilings with beautiful ornamental pressed tin, unique lighting and decor in the style of Old Paris. The full kitchen has stainless appliances and a granite bar-countertop. The open living space has a modern sofa, comfortable pillow top queen bed (linens provided), a flat panel TV with Roku and free Wifi. There's a coin op laundry room on premise as well. You're right in the middle of bustling historic downtown! Comes with FREE parking, a rarity in central downtown! Plus... You get use of the private outdoor common patio. Completely private in the middle of the city! Guest access Guests will have full access to the studio via gated entry. Guests are also able to use the laundry facility, private patio area and the outdoor reading nook on the upper level of the building. Other things to note If you need some staples, the Village Market is right across the street. We provide a parking space for you as well - a rarity in central downtown since most all parking is paid. Instructions are provided to confirmed guests. The area is generally safe but our parking lot is not gated so we do not recommend leaving bikes, surfboards, valuables or any easily accessible items on or in your vehicle in the lot. Noise in the unit: Although it's typically pretty quiet, our space has a through the wall HVAC unit and a dehumidifier which cause some noise as they cycle on and off. If you're a very light sleeper, you may wish to bring earplugs or noise canceling headphones. Of course, you can simply turn the units off. Downtown can be quite lively on weekends and during festivals with multiple breweries and night spots so you may hear music close by. Location note: We've lived in Wilmington for a long time and find it quite safe downtown. Our building is gated, but keep in mind that downtown's popularity results a lot of visitors and sometimes folks overdo it in the bars, or others might be wandering around late at night after the venues close. If this makes you uneasy despite our building being gated, you may wish to find accommodation further from downtown since our location is right in the middle of things. We provide linens and towels and there are typically a few extras in the walk in closet. Six legged critters: I hate talking about this, but I must. Palmetto bugs are indigenous to our area and they are extremely prolific downtown since we are close to the river. They look like giant roaches and they're a fact of life here. They're quick and sneaky but don't want to be indoors any more than you want to see them. Despite having pest control, it is rare but possible you will see one inside, especially since we're on the ground floor and they're practically impossible to keep completely out if there's a door that opens. They're high on the ick factor but completely harmless and can be chased out or otherwise dispatched. WiFi: Though our WiFi is generally fast and reliable, we cannot guarantee speed or availability if there are issues on the provider's end of things or outside of our control. If WiFi is absolutely essential, we recommend you have hotspot or other alternative capabilities just in case.
