Description
The Homeplace is a wonderful refuge to spend peaceful & joyous time with friends, family, or a retreat for yourself, away from it all. At an altitude of 4300 it is colder than Tucson & Phoenix. The wide open vistas of the Sulphur Springs Valley surrounded by mountain ranges, gorgeous skies, & starry nights are incredible. This southwestern country home is built of adobe blocks, handmade by the the Lind family. Love & laughter live here, you are welcome to be part of the tradition. The space The Adobe Homeplace will open its arms to you the moment you arrive: from the pine trees lined up to greet you along the driveway, to the spacious front porch inviting you to sit a spell, or the peaceful quiet of a good read in a cozy place. It offers three bedrooms (two with private patios) and two and a half baths, along with a large living room with clerestory windows which extend over the ample dining room containing a dish hutch and round dining table handcrafted by John Lind, and a comfortable couch which may surprise you with a small lizard or two (they are harmless and apparently live only on love). The large country kitchen includes a walk-in pantry, and off the living room on the south side, a sunroom provides a bright space to relax with a cup of tea. Passing through the kitchen there is a utility/laundry room by the back door where you can shed your wraps and boots in winter, or muddy shoes during monsoon season. Plenty of outdoor space to roam around, a quiet seating area under front yard pines, dirt roads to take walks on, bird watching and mountain hikes not far away. Guest access The entire home - including many interesting books and maps, as well as everything in the kitchen and dish hutches are available for guests to use and enjoy, along with outdoor spaces surrounding house. Other things to note You will soon recognize the hoots of the great horned owls who nest in the pine tree grove on the southwest side of the Homeplace, or be amused by the noisy discussions of the glossy ravens who share their forest. There are many other birds, of course, and the whole area is famous for migratory hummingbirds and sandhill cranes. Take a walk down the quiet dirt road and you may see a coyote or desert tortoise. Snakes are also part of the local wildlife so don't walk in the evenings without a flashlight!
