Description

Kabetogama Cabin Plaid! Get your cabin fix at Voyaguers National Park in comfort. Log cabin on Park Point at Lake Kabetogama. Fish off the dock, or bring your boat. Enjoy your morning coffee on the deck, or the dock. Picnic on the outdoor table under the pines. Bring a good book and relax, fish, hike, explore the natural undisturbed shoreline of Kabetogama. Very likely to see: otters, eagles, deer, pelicans, loons, potential to see mink, flying squirrels, fox. Swim off the dock/shoreline. The space The cabin is nestled in tall white pines with south facing views into Voyageurs National Park. Although the cabin has a rustic feel to it, don't expect the mustiness "old" cabins sometimes have. This cabin is super cute and comfy. You'll want to kick your feet up and enjoy some good meals here, as well as the obvious outdoor beauty this area brings. Approx 1300 sf interior sits on .36 acre lot with granite outcroppings and granite shoreline that gradually slopes to the water. Clean water, no weeds. Rock shelves at the waters entry/shoreline. The dock is superb with 13-15 feet of deep cold water right at the end of the dock. You can catch walleyes, sauger, northern pike, perch and bass right from the dock. The dock has electrical power for charging your batteries and a light. The property is very close to Chief Woodenfrog campground (we are just on the next point south) and you can use the boat launch there and park overnight if needed. You can also moor your boat on our dock, as it is protected from the wind and we have a secure way for you to tie it off on three points. The cabin itself is comfortable with lots of windows and a large wood deck with a gas grill. There is heat, but no air conditioning. We do have some fans in a closet if needed. There is a fresh water tank (1800 gallons) and the water is high quality, treated, drinking water from International Falls. You really don't need to bring bottled water. 6 people is the maximum capacity as there is only 1 bathroom. BR#1 - Queen bed, closet, black out curtains, view of the lake. BR#2 - Twin size bunk beds, closet, black out curtains, large windows. Sleeping area 3 - Queen bed in living room that opens up to the kitchen. This bed is for the early riser who gets up to make the coffee! It is high off the ground, so not suitable for small children. Great views to the lake in the morning. This room gets bright when the sun rises as only half the room has curtains. Understand that anyone who sleeps in the other bedrooms will need to cut through the living room and walk by this bed to get to the bathroom during the night and in the early morning. There is a large tv monitor in the sun room that allows streaming. Please note, there are no TV channels or any other service other than your own streaming to this monitor. We do have good, strong wifi in the cabin. The bathroom is small, clean, and practical. It has a a tub/shower and a stacked full size washer and dryer. The furnace is also in here. The w/d and furnace are not hidden behind any doors so it's not very elegant. All towels and toiletries are provided. The kitchen has a beautiful fun toaster, electric range, oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, crock pot, pans, dishes, and cooking utensils. There is no dishwasher, garbage disposal, or blender. Other than that it is a great kitchen! There is enough parking in front for 3-4 cars. There is a fire pit near the lake. Lay down on the dock and star gaze on a very clear night. It's amazing! The lake is a paradise (24,000 acres, 80 ft deep) with direct water connection to Namakan (24,000 acres, 150 ft deep ), Sand Point (8400 acres 184 ft deep) and Crane Lake (300 acres 80 ft deep). All of these lakes can be accessed directly by boat. Few cabins line the shore. You can also go over a boat portage through Kettle Falls and into Rainy Lake. Most of these lakes share a border with Canada. It is easy to get out in a secluded quiet bay where you are alone in nature. This is a very pristine wilderness area and National Park, which is also now DARK SKY certified. Plan to spend some time out on the water. Please note: no Ski-doo's or jet skiis are allowed on the water here in the National Park. There are some restaurants on the lake that you can access by car or boat as well as some nice hikes out on the Kabetogama peninsula (water access to trail head). There is a lot to see. Find out more at the Voyageurs National Park visitor center. Guest access Entire cabin, but not the garage or water shed. There is a locked closet in the bunk bed room that you will not have access to. You will have access to the dock, parking area, and boat slip. The nearest boat landing is at WoodenFrog Campground. It's a great and easy boat landing. Free overnight parking is available there as well. Plenty of room for your truck and trailer is you choose to leave it there. There is room for your trailer at our cabin as well. It is a healthy walking distance to the cabin from the boat landing (about 1/2+ mile). Other things to note If you are bringing a boat, our boat slip could be complicated depending on the size of your boat. Most likely it won't be a problem. It's a rock ledge shoreline, and an unusual shaped dock. The boat gets tucked in behind an L- shape, protected from the wind. Let's converse about the boat so no one is disappointed. You could also bring a kayak, SUP, canoe, etc. Note: we do have a canoe for your use. No Ski-doos or jet skiis are allowed in the waters of the National Park. The cabin is not suitable for small children. We would need to discuss the age(s) of children as the cabin is not child-proofed (no cribs, no outlet covers, cabinets open freely to cleaning products, the deck is open with no spindles and about a 4 foot open drop, and furnace and hot water heater are exposed in the bathroom area). We have an aluminum canoe on site. By renting our property, you agree that use of the canoe is at your own risk. Any injuries incurred while using the canoe will not be the responsibility of the owner and you will hold the owner harmless. There are 2 US Coast Guard approved seat cushions stored behind the door in the cabin that MUST be used in the canoe if you take it out, unless you have your own life jackets. State law requires you to have 2 US Coast Guard life jackets or cushions in the canoe. There are also 2 pairs of paddles for you to choose from (behind the cabin door). By renting our property, you agree that swimming, or any activity in the lake, is at your own risk, and the owner is not responsible for injuries sustained during your visit, you hold the owner harmless. Please note that one bedroom does have bunk beds and are to be used at your own risk. By renting the cabin you agree to hold the owner harmless if any incidents or injury is caused or related to use of the bunk beds.
