Description

Mumbi Cottage offers a wonderful stay experience within its cozy, charming, fully furnished walls. This 3 bedroomed beauty is located within the Great Rift Valley Lodge, surrounded by majestic views all round. The space Mumbi Cottage is a fully furnished double storey entity. It consists of 3 comfortable en-suite bed-rooms, a well lit kitchen and a spacious living-room that leads out the balcony which boasts a breath-taking view any time of day. This space comfortably fits 6 and is perfect for a getaway with friends and family alike. Mumbi Cottage is located within the Great Rift Valley Lodge in Naivasha, Kenya. It is a one-and-a-half hour drive or a 30-minute flight from Nairobi (24 kilometres from Naivasha town and 12 off the Nairobi-Nakuru highway) and is approximately 7000 feet above sea level. The lodge is 46 km from the Nakuru Airport. The Lodge is built on the Eburru, a mountain that the Maasai call Ol Donyo Opurru, meaning mountain of smoke. From Mumbi Cottage you will enjoy spectacular views over the world’s largest valley, from Mount Longonot and the Aberdare Mountains in the east to the bird-thronged lakes of Naivasha and Elementaita. Thanks to our proximity to Lake Naivasha, we enjoy some of the most diverse birdlife on the planet, with over 300 species on record, including pelicans and flamingos that fly from one lake to the other, Black-headed Orioles, Fischers Lovebirds Superb starling, African harrier hawks,Speckled Mouse birds and Egyptian geese. If you are a bird watcher, you will love this place! There is one part of this cottage that is special and seems to bring all elements of nature together. The balcony! From here the views of lake Naivasha, Mt. Longonot, the Aberdares, the golf course greens just below, the birds in the trees, the zebras on the grass and not to mention a VIP, front row seat to witness daily the sunrise as dawn breaks. Mumbi also boasts a Berbeque booth with one famous 'Kinyanjui choma jiko' - Barbecue Stove. So on your way to Mumbi, make a stop at Delamare along Naivasha Nakuru highway which is on your way and buy a goat leg to barbecue during your stay. Don't forget your barbecue sauce! There is a roofed free and secure parking for two at Mumbi. Should your car alarm go off at night, don't panic, it is most likely a monkey or squirrel just curious about the make of your car. Guest access Guests have access to the following lodge facilities: OWN AIRSTRIP The Lodge has its own airstrip allowing for connection with either Samburu, Masai Mara or Nairobi. 18 HOLE GOLF COURSE The course is described as among the most breathtaking in Africa. Every hole offers spectacular views over the shimmering expanse of the world’s largest valley with invariably stunning background – often watched by the herds of zebra and impala that naturally enjoy right of way on the course. This course boasts beautifully contoured greens built to USGA specs with ‘tiffgreen’ Bermuda grass, while the fairways are planted with lush indigenous Kikuyu grass. All the holes are well bunkered, and there are five major water features spread throughout the course. The 654-yard, par-5 17th hole is celebrated as one of the longest – and trickiest to par – in the country. There is playing golf, and then there is playing golf in the middle of the largest valley in the Wild of Africa where the horizons merge and the heavens meet earth. There is no experience comparable to golfing and being in this space!
