Crater Lake House is a large house with an open living and dining space at the centre of which is a cozy fireplace. Enjoy spectacular views of Kyaninga Crater Lake and the Mountains of the Moon. This serene getaway is a 20 minute drive from Fort Portal. The lake is clean and safe to swim in, and you can enjoy beautiful walks along the 4 km rim, and/or explore the Crater. A fun get away for families. Breakfast available $10 pp. Grocery shopping $5. Takeaway services are also available. Other things to note Guests should note that this is a remote off grid location. As such water heating and electricity are solar, and while environmentally sound, are limited to what the sun is able to provide. The electric solar system is unable to provide for intensive loads; toasters, hair dryers or other high power appliances should not be used, as that will result in loss of power by the evening. The water is heated by a solar system, therefore evenings are a better time to shower than mornings. Unfortunately on cloudy days the water won't get very hot. Water is pumped up from the lake, if there is a lot of water use Chris will pump up more water during the day, guests may find the water is not hot as the solar system needs time to heat the water.
