Villa Selva: cosy cottage with spectacular view

Villa Selva is situated on our 1,5ha property on the edge of Loppersum. In this cosy cottage (the 'villa' of its name is slightly overstated) you'll find a living-/dining room, a small kitchen and bathroom with shower. There is one bedroom with one double and one single bed and the open attic has a second double bed. The cottage has small private terrace and garden facing south. On clear nights millions of stars twinkle overhead and the moonshine is so bright, you can read a book in it. Our property is a developing garden, combining principles from both permaculture and edible forest gardens. Hares, deer and other wildlife hide in the tall grass and the skies above are as wide as only skies in Groningen can be. From your private terrace or simply from the windows, you'll have a beautiful view of the surroundings. We'll not disturb you, but if you like, we can tell you a bit about the history of Loppersum, about our permaculture experiences and about what to see and do and where to eat. Please ask if you would like to know anything. -- We've got four young children, who like to play around. After all, it's 'their' garden. They will probably come and have a look at you. If you tell them clearly to stay away, they will. The Hoogeland (High Land) of Groningen is well known for its striking 'wierdes' (dwelling mounds), Roman churches and vast open countryside and it's a beautiful area for walking, hiking or cycling. In the village of Loppersum you'll find facilities such as a unique outdoor (salt water) swimming pool, shops, a supermarket and plenty of opportunities for sports and recreation. The picturesque town of Appingedam with interesting museums and good shopping possibilities is ten minutes away (both train and car). The vibrant city of Groningen (25 mins.) has even more to offer. Loppersum train station is a 5 mins. walk from the cottage. Trains for both Appingedam/Delfzijl and Groningen leave every 30 mins. (60 mins. on Sundays). -- We've got a few bicycles to lend. They're not top quality, but will do for a medium-length trip. Please let us know if you'd like to use them. Breakfast is not included in the price. We can deliver a standard breakfast (without meat products) fot 5,- per person. This breakfast consists of a basket with freshly baked (baked-off) bread, butter, cheese and assorted (sweet) spreads like jam and Nutella. Should we consider special dietary needs, such as lactose and/or gluten free or vegan, please let us know when you make your reservation. (Almost) everything is possible. -- Ducks, chickens and rabbits roam our property. No pets allowed, sorry. You're invited for a stroll along the paths into the tall grass. We've got spare rain boots in the most common sizes to lend.
