There is excellent trout fishing in many of the 136 Lochs of Caithness and salmon fishing in the rivers of Thurso, Halladale, Wick and Helmsdale, all within easy reach. Also a good stop over point to pick up the ferry over to the Orkney Islands from John O Groats or Gills Bay.
