The Boys Dormitory is a spacious four-star, one bedroom apartment positioned on the vaulted top floor of the Victorian monastery. The huge arched stone mullioned windows face in three directions with every window offering sensational views of the landscape. The monastery is undoubtedly the finest building at the Abbey and in the most prominent position, directly overlooking Loch Ness, the cloisters and gardens. The space Luxurious, combining quality antique and modern furnishings for a comfortable and relaxing stay. This apartment features Victorian pictures, floorboards and vintage lighting sourced from a local chapel and with wonderful attention to detail throughout. The most idyllic place, a far cry from when up to 40 junior boys shared what was one of the original boarding school dormitories, located between the Abbot’s chapel and a lovely bell tower. The airy large living room and open plan kitchen offers the very finest level of comfort including two luxurious designer sofas. The view from the stone mullioned living room window straight up the loch is truly spectacular: a perfect seat to while away the afternoon reading a good novel, or watching for the legendary Loch Ness Monster. The gorgeous master bedroom features a massive stone mullioned arched window overlooking the Cloister Gardens, the turrets and towers of the Abbey, and the mountains beyond. King-sized antique brass and iron bed, Victorian oak pew, luxurious bed linens, choice of feather or fibre pillows, to ensure total relaxation for the duration of your stay. Other things to note When you stay at the apartment: From the car park it’s a 50-60 metre walk through the historic covered cloisters of the abbey before you reach our staircase. The Boys Dormitory is at the top of three flights of stairs (75 steps) with no lift access. The climb is well worth the effort, as the views are amongst the best in the entire abbey. We only recommend booking our apartment if you’re reasonably fit and active. CCTV: in the communal areas there are some CCTV cameras, however in the apartment there are none. The swimming pool is communal - the management limit the number of people swimming at any given time via an online booking system to ensure it doesn’t get too busy. You could consider making your booking in the quieter time slots of the day if you’d prefer a more tranquil experience during the busiest months of the year. During the very busiest months, the management of the abbey sometimes open the pool for longer hours outside of the regular times in the early evening (after 5pm). They charge a nominal fee of £5 per person to cover the necessary overtime staff costs, during normal opening hours there is no charge for our guests.
