Shalom....be at peace! At our Jamaican Retreat!
Description
Welcome to Shalom! When our parents, Richard and Merle Roper retired from a career at Munro College, "The City Set Upon A Hill", they wanted a place where they could still enjoy one of the best views in Jamaica, and where they could still hear the school bell at Munro. They built, overlooking the Pedro Plains with vistas to Black River and even Negril. At over 2200 feet altitude, the cool breeze is a constant, bending trees to its will, and keeping the nearby windmills in perpetual motion. The space Rock gently on the verandah, play the piano, roam the garden, watch the hummingbirds in the Bottlebrush tree, climb the Poinciana tree, chat with the nearby farmers or the school children on their way home....or do nothing at all. Perhaps take the 30 minute drive down to Treasure Beach or Great Bay, go for supper at Lovers Leap, climb the Falls at YS or take tours at Appleton or on the Black River Safari....or do nothing at all. Recharge, recuperate, be at peace,...at Shalom Shalom is situated on 9 acres. It is in the rural farming community of Potsdam, St Elizabeth and itself produces vegetables for the local market. It is overlooked by Munro College, a boarding secondary school started in 1856, and is adjacent to the Munro Preparatory School. It lies between Malvern to the north and Southfield to the south, and the road below (for 4WD vehicles) leads down to Round Hill, Pedro Cross and Treasure Beach. This rustic three (3) bedroom single storey house has an open living/dining and separate kitchen. Two double beds and two twin beds are available. A rain-filled water tank and timed water heater provides very cold and hot water. Wifi is available. This is our family home and still has some of our parent’s treasures and many books. We invite you to feel at home, while respecting its history. Enjoy your stay, be at peace,...at Shalom!
