Enjoy the magical spectacle of nature, the spawning and nesting of the largest sea turtles on the planet on the beach of an indigenous community in Panama, Armila San Blas. Learn about the importance and spiritual respect that the indigenous Gunas have for this giant animal. The season runs from mid-February to the end of June. The space Armila is an indigenous community in the Gunayala region, known to tourists as San Blas, located on the border of Panama and Colombia. The indigenous Gunas of Armila live between two rivers, surrounded by tropical forest, mountains, abundant wildlife and an extensive 4.5 km long beach, isolated from modern development and far from pollution. Our Bungalow cabins There you will find our cabins, Ibedi al Natural, surrounded by nature and operated by their owners Mr. Nacho Crespo and Mrs. Gladys Arosemena, the authentic hospitality of the hosts will make you feel like part of the family. The cost includes: • Reception in Puerto Obaldia and transfer to the cabins • Lodging • Full board • Tour guide and assistance from local guides. • Guided walk to observe sea turtles (night and day) NOT INCLUDED Transportation to the meeting point (Puerto Obaldia): From Panama City, you can only get there by plane with Air Panama. THE TOUR Before starting the sea turtle observation tour, we have organized a typical dinner to listen to the stories, the efforts made by the indigenous community to protect these marine species. After dinner, we will take a guided walk to the beach, where we will enjoy the impressive spectacle of nature, the spawning and nesting of sea turtles in their natural habitat. • The daytime tour is also organized: From 5:00 a.m. • Sea turtle watching tours are held daily. Other activities (included in the rate) • Natural adventure along the river • Cultural coexistence • Snorkeling on the white beach You can choose these optional activities for the following days. Other things to note Sea turtle watching is undoubtedly an impressive spectacle of nature that you can't miss. The immense beach of Armila is the sanctuary of these marine species. Every year from February to June, it receives thousands of leatherback turtles, the largest of their species, measuring up to 2 meters and 500 kilos. Mainly during the months of May and June, you will have the opportunity to see the wonderful spectacle of nature. You will get to see how at nightfall, the turtles slowly look for the beach to dig their nests and lay their eggs and the most impressive thing is to see how the newborns (turtles) slowly leave the sand and look for the sea to embark on their incredible journey that will last many years and then they will return to the beach where they were born.
