Lakeshore Romantic Bungalow, Chintheche, Malawi

This is a unique and ideal getaway bungalow with a mezzanine upper level bedroom that is private and has a gorgeous view of Lake Malawi. There are 2 king beds inside the house, and a decked out safari tent. Its rustic, yet homely and well- finished. There are all the necessities you need including linen, utensils, condiments, fridge and cooker. There are towels but feel free to bring your own. There are chill out spots over the plot, amazing birds, beautiful clean beach and waters, and privacy. The space Kusangalala means 'to be happy' in Chichewa, the local language. It is a quiet, private and romantic space and as such it's not a 'party place'. For that, you can head on down to Kande Beach, 20 km away :) The bungalow is made from sustainable materials and is on stilts. It is made from timber with hessian walls that are strong and weatherproof, and mosquito gauze for windows. There are shutters on the outside to protect from the elements but the system allows for coolness and is effective. There is a mezzanine upper level for the main bedroom that has an open balcony and a beautiful view of the garden and lake. It has its own loo and basin. The main shower area is outside wrapped around an magical tree, and has a loo and basin as well. The grounds have two more open showers for campers and a lovely tree- house compost loo. There is a safari tent with a king bed and its own chill out area, so there are beds for up to 6 people excluding campers. The price is for the whole plot/ house, but there will be small amount extra for campers and parties over 6 people. There are great staff to look after you and they are super hospitable. The running water is from the lake (do not drink!) and safe drinking water is from the borehole. There are excellent quality mosquito nets for all beds. The safari tent allows for a private chill out area ideal for couples. This unique location is for those that enjoy being in touch with nature. The lake is clean and bilharzia- free, as most locations in the Northern region are. The house is well finished and comfortable, but very open so it is best for people who love nature! As it is primarily my personal space and private cottage, I welcome you to enjoy it and be happy :) Guest access You can access all areas! Bring towels if you can, but sheets are provided. Please arrive before dark. Other things to note This is a self catering cottage so please bring your food and drinks with you. We have mainline electricity and also an inverter/ battery back up system Only the lights and 2 sockets are connected to this so as not to overload the system. In this circumstance please don't charge anything over night. There is a fridge and cooker and now an outside kitchen for campers. All utensils and condiments are there and feel free to use, and to leave some for the next guests! There is a gas back-up in case of black outs, and a bbq. We do have two staff who can cook breakfasts, make coffees, prepare foods and salads, so just ask your host. You may need to advise them on more complicated dishes but they are happy to help and learn. Take laptops and hard-drives incase you want to watch movies:) Please don't move the TV downstairs around. There are lodges nearby with restaurants if you don't feel like cooking- see advice section. The staff quarters is ideal for nannies or any staff you may also like to bring. We have sun-beds and a canoe but please don't go out in rough weather! I have friends owning a safari company living in their own safari tent onsite. They come and go and are respectful. You can organise day trips with them and also safaris if you want.
