Description

Sita Joyeh (Baobab Island) Holiday Resort is situated on an isolated Island about 2.5km from the village of Kuloro/Tungina. It is approximately 30 mins drive from Banjul International Airport. A peaceful, quiet, Eco friendly resort which have closer proximity to Farasutu Forest , Bonto Forest , Faraba - banta, Marakissa, Tujereng, Tanji and Kartong The Island is only access by boat and we use solar energy and stand by generator for power supply and we have our own borehole for our water supply The space Sita Joyeh is the only island tourist accommodation throughout the whole Gambia. It is completely hassle free, quite and very peaceful in the middle of nowhere. You do not have to be a nature enthusiasm to appreciate the dawning chorus of the island while having your early coffee under the baobab tree, your veranda or in the garden. Staying at the resort accord you with an opportunity to explore about 60 to 70% of the country's hot spots for birding and nature tours sites and return for the evening. Navigating the water ways of the River Gambia with the mangroves swamps is normally our main highlights most most of our guests, there is a greater chance of birds, crocodiles, monkey and if lucky mongoose in the evening. The attractions or tours include a nature trail towards Farasutu & Bonto Forest for the rare African Wood Owl, Greyish & Verreaux's Eagle Owl, Nightjars, spotted Honey Guide and many more. Another possibility of a tour to see how oysters are process, women vegetable growers, hard working men at the quarry before proceeding to local village Tungina visit a local school, a village condiment market and a family compound before return back to the resort in time for lunch. As an Eco Resort, we mainly use solar for lighting during the day and in the evening, we put on the generator and turn it off around 2 - 3am to minimize it's pollution Guest access Guests are allowed in all public areas such as rooms, restaurant/bar, garden, around the island, bantaba area and river side areas Other things to note We do have day visitors for day tours and lunch which our guests extra opportunity to join buffet lunch or dinner if they wish.
