Sailing Splendid San Blas

Description

We warmly invite you aboard the spacious Splendid to explore the stunning islands of San Blas, Panama. There are 365 islands in this virgin paradise, with less than 50 of the islands inhabited. Come and enjoy the warm turquoise waters, raw islands abundant with coconuts, incredible sunsets, an infinity of stars and the local native Guna people in the best way possible - by sailboat! Does not include alcoholic or sugary drinks. Cold drinking water is our main drink. Only Natural food. The space Albeit completely remodeled with modern amenities, Splendid has kept her vintage charm. Maintaining the spirit of the 70's, she has teak wood and porcelain details that are ancient artifacts of the time. The sailboat was manufactured in Hong Kong in 1973, by the company Cheoy Lee Shipyard. This classic beauty is 40 feet in length & has a quite spacious interior. We offer one king size cabin with a private bathroom / shower, and two single beds in one cabin with its own private bathroom / shower. Each cabin has sufficient air flow, a fan, and USB charging ports to charge any devices. There are two cabins, two bathrooms, a kitchen with a stove, oven, & fridge, indoor dining area, cockpit with an area to relax, outdoor dining area, and outdoor lounging space on the bow, or the front of the boat! We have snorkeling gear for guest use and a dinghy (small motor boat) to bring guests to surrounding islands when not sailing. We offer an all inclusive stay - accommodation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinking water, coffee & sailing are included. Coca cola & beer & juice are also provided when available. Dependent on the weather & conditions, we typically sail at least once a day! We cook everything from scratch - bread, fresh fish, lobster, crab, fruits and vegetables! We also provide freshly squeezed orange juice and freshly baked by the natives corn muffins / pan de coco or coconut bread when available. One of the meals during your stay will be catch of the day on an island prepared by the local Gunas! - these meals typically are either fresh caught fish, lobster, crab, shrimp, or octopus, and include either /or coconut rice, plantains, beans, and other vegetables. Please let us know if there are any dietary requirements, so we can do our best to prepare accordingly. Your captain, Nicolas or Nico has been living and sailing San Blas for five years. He speaks fluent Spanish and good English, with many connections in the area - a huge benefit to our guests! ** We can help you arrange transportation from Panama City to San Blas & San Blas to Panama city. You are picked up and dropped off directly to the sailboat, Splendid. Guest access Guests have access to the entire boat. Please make yourself comfortable as this is your home! There are two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, indoor dining area, cockpit, outdoor dining area, outdoor lounging space at the bow or front of the boat Other things to note Transportation to the Guna Yala Archipelago The adventure begins very early, at night, 5:00 am, it is the only time that the transfer agencies have to visit the archipelago, all the 4x4 trucks, as if synchronized, go around the hotels and hostels in Panama City to meet the adventurous tourists, a maximum of 6 per truck, it is worth noting, do not carry excess luggage, the recommendation is a maximum of 10kg. per person, a suitcase similar to that allowed by the airlines. And there begins the land stretch of approximately 3 hours to the ports of the "Guna Yala" Archipelago, whose pronunciation is "Kuna Yala" in the Guna language, the letter g, the initial of the word is pronounced /k/., popularly and wrongly called "San Blas". The land section has two stages: City Departure Stage, 90 minutes: Leaving Panama City by highway and then turning into a road, until the first 10-minute stop, before entering the jungle, a gas station for breakfast and a visit to the bathrooms. Mountain Stage, 90 minutes: It begins with a winding route of ups and downs between mountains and jungle, almost intact wildlife, where you can see numerous species of birds, reptiles and sloths. At the time of travel, we must go through a double checkpoint, depending on the season, the wait can last between 15-60 minutes: - Customs Post, by the Panamanian government, where passports or documentation must be presented for leaving Panama (since the Panamanian government has not had administration over the indigenous reserve since 1925) - Entry Post, to the indigenous reserve through the pass called "Nusagandi", the entry has a cost of 20usd for foreigners and 5usd for locals, After having entered indigenous lands, 10 minutes after leaving the checkpoint, the car makes a short 15-minute pause at the panoramic point "Guna Yala", where you can appreciate the magnitude of the archipelago. The port selected for your arrival will depend on the agency, there are 3 possible ports, Carti, Barsukum and Tupile, all ports have a tax of 2usd per person, one time only. Once at the port, the drivers will coordinate with the boats for boarding, depending on the season, the organization can last between 30 minutes to 60 minutes. The organization seems chaotic, but it is very effective, do not worry, they will never lose you. These ports are located in the middle of the jungle, the use of repellents and long clothing is recommended. Once on board with your vest, the maritime stage begins, high-speed boats, with double Yamaha engines, 70 hp each, reaching a maximum of 27 knots (50 km / h) will distribute tourists to different points, whether islands or sailboats, the duration varies between 30-60 minutes, depending on the number of destinations and the distance to the destination. Be careful with accessories, hats, glasses or phones that can fly off during the trip. Adventure Tourism on a Sailboat (Not Luxury Hotel Tourism) The tourism we offer brings you closer to nature, connecting you with the land and the sea from the most basic point of view. We are located in the Guna Yala archipelago, an indigenous natural reserve, here you will experience absolute silence, the most infinite darkness, paradise. Splendid offers a minimalist stay, with what is necessary for your comfort without reaching unnecessary luxury. I personally offer my house to my guests, with the limitations that isolation and distance bring us. I have learned to live my life here with just what is necessary, what Guna Yala gives me, air, water, food, sun, freedom, health. I hope you know how to respect this lifestyle. Thank you
