Crow’s Nest Cabin—Nature Lover & Pet’s Paradise!

Description

Pet friendly, air conditioned, comfortable cabin on spectacular wooded property. Private fish pond (catch and release). Miles of trails. Million dollar view. Privacy. Glittering stars! (Dark Sky area.) Hiking, wildlife viewing, birding, X-country skiing. Near Genesee River. Fully furnished kitchen, deck with gas grill, H-Def TV/WiFi, campfire pit (wood provided). Sleeps eight. HUNTERS: 75 wooded acres for deer & turkey hunting, 6 hunter max. Must sign waiver and check boundaries with us. The space Not only is The Crow’s Nest cozy and comfortable, it is situated on a large tract of forest with wild gullies, some open land, several ponds, and lots of trails and wildlife. We are currently in the process of putting it under conservation easement with the Genesee Valley Conservancy. We feel privileged to be stewards and to be able to share this amazing place with you. We keep trail maps in the cabin. Well behaved pets are welcome! They will love the chance to run off leash and explore. We provide dishes, a quilt if your furry friends like to sleep on the couch (like ours do!) and a canine first aid kit in case of emergency. Tours of Fred's permaculture plantations, his shitaki mushroom growing area, and our organic garden can be arranged. The cabin sleeps eight with two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and a spacious loft with four twin beds upstairs. In a pinch, kids could sleep on the sofas, but they are not pullout—and there’s only one bathroom. The kitchen has up-to-date appliances, a microwave, griddle, crockpot, coffee maker, French press, and Keurig. There are all the utensils you will need. The cabin has knotty pine cathedral ceilings, red oak flooring, hickory cabinets, and a beautiful gas heater/fireplace. The view of the Whitesville Valley all the way to Pennsylvania is nothing short of gorgeous. The cabin has Hi-Def TV, Internet, and a DVD player, books, games, puzzles, paper and crayons, and toys for the kids. There is a gas grill on the deck and an outdoor fire pit. Propane is provided with a spare tank in shed out back. Firewood for a bonfire is behind the cabin. The Crow's Nest is very private with a good driveway with parking space for several vehicles. No parking on the lawn please. We live a quarter mile down the hill and won't bother you unless needed, but you may occasionally see Fred working in the field below the cabin. There are catfish, perch, and koi in our pond. (Catch and release please.) It’s fun to feed them! (Food in bin in cabin.) We are just a few miles from the headwaters of the Genesee river, famed for trout fishing, so bring your fishing pole and kayak. This is Amish Country! Please slow down for buggies, and look for vegetable stands, crafts, greenhouses, woodworkers, maple syrup, and quilt shops. There are potters, jewelry makers, a candle maker, and many other artisan studios nearby. Check out the Allegany Artisans website. They have an open-studio tour each year the third weekend of October. Alfred is home to a world renowned ceramic college and museum. Swain Ski Resort is an hour to the north, the Finger Lakes Wine country an hour to the east. Getting away from it all means you are in the country! Be prepared that gas and groceries are eight miles away, just over the PA border at Reed’s Market. There is a Dollar General in Whitesville which sells beer and other alcoholic beverages. Laundry services are in Wellsville and Hornell. Guest access The Crow's Nest is all yours for your stay. There is s good driveway with parking space for several vehicles, SAVE OUR SEPTIC-PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE LAWN. Our fabulous acreage of hilltop forest, pond, and wild gullies is open for your enjoyment by foot, ski, mountain bike or snowshoe. Other things to note Irish Hill road is not paved. We recommend 4-wheel drive in the winter. We’ll keep you plowed out! We do not allow 4-wheelers on our trails, except for hunters retrieving deer, but there are miles of unpaved roads and people love Tall Pines ATV Park nearby in Andover.
