Cabin Clack is a quiet, stream-side retreat bordering 1000 acres of wild trails in NY State Forest. The cabin is a historic hunting cabin from circa 1935. The cabin is good for a couple, solo adventurers, or families (with kids). We welcome pets, and they will love exploring the secluded forest and the freedom of our virtually traffic-free dead-end road. There is a spring fed pond you can swim in. The space The space is a 1-room cabin with full bed, kitchenette with microwave, electric stove, toaster and mini fridge. Vintage free-standing tub and Vermont Castings wood-burning stove. The back porch overlooks a lively little stream and a hibachi if you feel like grilling. There is a free standing outdoor fire pit with plenty of firewood to make a campfire at night. A great place for star gazing. There is a spring fed pond you can swim in. Guest access The entire cabin is yours to call home during your stay, and you are free to explore our 100 acre property and adjacent 900 acre Clapper Hollow State Forest. We are DEC Stewards of the forest and have made and maintain our own trail maps, which we would be happy to share with you - just ask! If you would like to branch out and explore the area, Windham and Plattekill ski areas are within an hour's drive, as are cultural attractions like the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame, Brewery Ommegang, the Farmer's Museum, and Fenimore Art Museum, Howes Cavern and Secret Cavern. Other things to note We can supply you with snowshoes and ski poles for exploring as well as toboggans. Bring your own equipment for Xcountry skiing around the property, or go downhill skiing at Plattekill or Windham. Natural ice Skating is for free on a small pond in Minekill State Park. There are apple trees all around and guests are welcome to collect them and to use our apple press to make their own cider. There is no cell reception or wi-fi at the Cabin - so be prepared to truly unplug! Guests can use the wifi at the host's house and cell service can also be had by driving up the hill. We welcome guests during the Coronavirus epidemic. We expect there are people who would like to escape the crowded areas to be in the fresh air of a pristine forest. We take extra precautions in the cleaning of the cabin between guests, including meticulous laundering, careful sterilization of the floor and surfaces and when weather allows, airing of the whole space and sun airing of mats and carpet The hosts have been inoculated against COVID 19, received their booster shot and respect the rules.
