Description
"There is geometry in the humming of the strings, there is music in the spacing of the spheres." - Pythagoras An intriguing wood home, hidden away in a rural part of Coorg, invites the explorer on a journey of discovery. Designed to mimic the journey of life through the thoughtful use of symbols and harmonious proportions, the cottage is an ideal hideout for creative souls with interests in self reflection or offbeat outdoor exploration. The space Arka, a handcrafted bamboo cabin, was inspired by the universal concepts of Sacred Geometry, the geometry of forms inherent in nature. The idea has been to create a space out of harmonious proportions, finely in balance with the tropical surroundings that the home inhabits. The cottage is intriguing and inviting, a blend of modern ideas and some age old wisdom... Arka offers a one of a kind experience - both in terms of the house and also the stunning setting it is placed in. The wood/bamboo house has been painstaking hand crafted, mostly from natural materials from our estate. Special attention has been given to lighting and use of symbols to reflect the home's universal character. The surroundings are of lush tropical variety - at the estate we have paddy fields, a coffee plantation, bamboo gardens, an areca nut stretch and some vegetables and spices with forests forming part of the background. The cottage faces east and morning views are simply stunning. Almost off the grid, this is an ideal destination for those who wish to discover the charms of the Coorg countryside and find a new bit of themselves in the process. Through Arka we would like to meet fellow artists and creative minded people who can use this space for engaging exploring with nature and themselves. Life at Shyara Land: The solo explorer will find this space exciting for its offbeat character. This is a space that can be used both to unwind or to get creative or as a base to undertake non touristy explorations of Coorg. If you are an outdoorsy person, a short walk down from the cottage will take you to the plantations where you may amble around listening to bird song. You'll also get a first hand intro into the farming practices as you walk around as this is a working plantation. There is enough inspiration to be had if you prefer to stay indoors. The cottage faces east and offers a breathtaking view of the sunrise and the plantations with large patches of rain forest forming part of the scenery. The large open meadow at the front of the property is a great place to relax under a tree, on a hammock or some of the rock sitouts. You are also welcome to visit my studio in Virajpet town (14 kms away) where I can introduce you to the concepts of Sacred Geometry and show you around our bamboo gardens. The cottage is equipped with all basic necessities for a comfortable stay and some edutainment - a television, music system, air con and attached bath with hot/cold water, a small collection of books and a selection of music and movies as well. Breakfast and dinner are included in the tariff. Expect simple but delicious home style food, traditional South Indian and Coorgi food is mostly prepared. Flavorful Coorg coffee can be had through the day :) Guest access Arka is located at Shyara Land, our 27 acre family estate in Karada village (South Coorg). You have access to the entire estate which includes our coffee plantation, paddy fields and bamboo gardens. The estate also includes a farmhouse with 2 guest rooms and a kitchen and a small settlement for plantation workers. Apart from this its pretty much just nature and you. Other things to note We offer various facilities to make your stay comfortable and your exploration more enriching. Do keep in mind that this is not a hotel or resort but a offbeat farmstay so service is limited. The place is ideal for someone who can be independent and takes joy in the charms that nature has to offer. We are lucky to have this space where natures bounty can be experienced all year along.
