The Cottage is a separate spacious two bedroom unit with optional annexe next door to the main Georgian house, set in a stunning location on 231 acres in the middle of the Irish countryside. The property is on Lake Derravaragh at the end of a long avenue, under Knockeyon, (second highest hill in Westmeath) with 1500m of shore line in a National Hertitage area. This is an ideal base for a walking holiday starting with glorious walks up Knockeyon, fishing trip with Lough Ennel, Lough Owel, Lough Sheelin nearby or visiting the places of historical interest in the area such as Fore Abbey, Tullynally Castle, Belvedere, Celtic burial grounds (Loughcrew, Newgrange), large Period houses. There are also golf courses (Mullingar and Delvin), horse riding and horse racing. An array of summer arts, music and Heritage festivals take place in the surrounding areas. This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the setting - a peaceful and quiet retreat. We have a tennis court, croquet lawn, trampoline and access to fishing on Lough Derravaragh. Guest access Coach House private gardens, tennis court, Crocket lawn, trampoline, walks outside main gardens of the Streamstown House, including walks up Knockeyon and through wonderful unspoilt woodland walks on the lake shore and further walks up the hill. Depending on the time of year the orchids and bluebells are fantastic. Other things to note Please note the annex costs an additional €xx per double bedroom, per night. If you want three bedrooms you need to say you are 6 people on the booking form. Similarly if you want the fourth bedroom book 8 people.
