A short boat ride from the Lamu/Manda airstrip takes you to Shela where you will be welcomed by our staff and taken on a short walk to the house. Spread over 5 floors, the house has 3 spacious double bedrooms and 1 twin room - all ensuite, and can comfortably fit up to 6 people. All the lower rooms are fitted with air conditioning and fans, while the double bedroom that occupies the top floor enjoys the natural breeze (with an additional fan). Inspired by both traditional Swahili and Arabic architecture, Zahir House embodies both cultures with a modern twist! Guests can enjoy marvelous views of both the ocean and the famous sand dunes from the top-most floor, while also having the opportunity to cool down on the hotter days in the large plunge pool on the ground floor. From the third floor, guests can enjoy their meals in the sea breeze; the space is also fit with a small lounge, bar/kitchenette and a fountain The house is staffed with a cook and room steward - who are there to make your stay as relaxed as possible. We will send you information on how you can book dhow trips across the Lamu archipelago (with fresh seafood prepared on the boat), snorkeling trips (with the chance of seeing dolphins and whales – season permitting), waterskiing/wakeboarding, tours through both Shela and Old Lamu town with an experienced guide, massages at the house and several other activities. Or why not stay near the house? With 7 miles of white pristine beach a short walk away, or watch the fisherman come in with the mornings catch 1 minutes walk from the house. Rate includes: - 1 airport transfer from Lamu/Manda airport to Shella and 1 transfer from Shella to the airport are included in your stay -Cook and room stewards Kindly note that our house cannot accommodate more than 6 people. Guests should also note that the house is 5 stories and should be comfortable taking stairs. Over Christmas and New year we have a 7-night stay minimum.
