Description

An ornate room with an en suite lounge with Wall Art by Local Street Artist / Muralist Birdo @jerryrugg accented with a chalk board & custom-made, poplar-framed mirror suspended from the ceiling over the Queen bed. Shared bathroom with bidet & jacuzzi tub. The space Step out of Toronto's trendy west end and tumble directly into the vivid imagination of Tanya Grossi, whose relentless pursuit of her dreams led her to live full time in the master's quarters of her own realized vision, ‘The Darling Mansion'. This property is an authentic Victorian mansion , creative space and artist haven... and you are invited. The mansion was built in 1888 for one of Canada's first female doctors, who ran her clinic from what is now Tanya's bedroom. Tanyas' eclectic collection of artefacts and a sinfully-indulgent sense of interior design bring a surreal and Daliesque dynamic to this exciting historic property. After a glance through the photos, it should be apparent that Tanya has a background in antiques and boutique vintage apparel. But it's her work as a DJ, and her previous business Queen West watering hole, Salvador Darling, that alludes to the sort of unique & unforgettable experience Tanya provides her guests. --- For more information about me and the other rooms available, including events, click on my profile or look me up online. Tanya Grossi, The Darling Mansion. The first-floor parlour is a shared space for all guests, with a drawing room, dining room, foyer, front porch, backyard garden, library, hula hoop, kimonos and tickle trunk. The second floor features four uniquely-themed and private rooms, each suited for up to two guests. The “Opium Den" Room includes an ensuite bathroom and balcony. A bathroom with a bidet and Jacuzzi soaking tub is shared between guests of the Wes Anderson Room, The Magic Carpet Ride Room (with a bed suspended from the ceiling), and the Boudoir. . Wifi is included and available throughout The Darling Mansion. For group bookings, the Full Darling is available. You get the entire first floor, including the Master's Quarters bedroom, and all four rooms on the second floor. Subject to availability! --- For more information about me and the other rooms available, including events, click on my profile or look me up online. Tanya Grossi, The Darling Mansion. If you're cool, I'm cool. Your own room is your own private retreat. The Darling Mansion is my home. I live in the master's quarters on the first floor with my dog, Enzo. You will be able to find me and other guests in the common parlour, in the garden and drawing room till 8pm.You can set the tone for how much interaction you wish to do. I am here to help. I am from Toronto, so I have lots of insight into the city's hidden gems, with recommendations about what to see and what to skip to make your visit exceptional. The Darling Mansion is on residential Dovercourt Road, in downtown Toronto's west end, between bustling Queen & Dundas Streets. West Queen West was recently recognized by Vogue Magazine as one of the trendiest neighbourhoods in the world for street fashion, second only to Tokyo's Shimokitazawa. Dundas West is a pocket of city life tucked away from the city's tourist destinations. This traditionally-Portuguese neighbourhood is now peppered with the neighbourhood cafes & bars of Toronto's art, music, fashion & culinary communities. A short streetcar ride east takes you to Kensington Market, Toronto's vintage clothes and farm-fresh food district with a bohemian flair. Seconds beyond Kensington is the most iconic of Toronto's three Chinatowns, with seemingly-infinite options for late-night dining through 5am. Just southwest of the Darling Mansion is Parkdale: an up-and-coming, artistic neighbourhood that is home to the most sought after restaurants and live music community. Check out the map on this listing - I've added few recommendations of my favourite local spots. Public Transit: Less than a minute walk to the nearest TTC streetcar stop, at Dundas & Dovercourt. $3 per person, per ride (ask for a transfer when you pay your fare to be able to connect to other routes, including busses & subways, without extra charge). $11 day passes are available which offer unlimited travel until 5am, valid for 1 adult Mondays through Fridays, or for two adults on Saturdays & Sundays. Taxis: You should be able to flag a cab any time of the day or night from Queen West or Dundas West. You can call Beck or Co-op cabs to pick you up. Driving: There are two City of Toronto “Green P" parking lots near The Darling Mansion. For about $10 every 24 hours you can leave your car and explore Toronto like a local. I added the parking lots to the guidebook/map in this listing. Toronto is an awesome party, but there are some things you need to plan for in advance if you're here to enjoy the nightlife. If you plan to buy alcohol as a grocery item, it's only sold in government-regulated stores which have limited operating hours. Ontario laws prevent it from being sold at grocery or convenience stores. Luckily, there is an LCBO and Beer store right around the corner from The Darling Mansion on Dundas West. I've added the locations & hours to the guidebook/map for this listing. The LCBO and Beer Store are *always* closed on holidays. Bars in Toronto are allowed to serve alcohol until 2am, but they have to take whatever you didn't drink away by 2:45am. Some bars opt for an earlier last call. During festivals, individual bars can apply to extend their license to serve until 3 or 4am, so if you're in town for NXNE, TIFF, CMW, or Pride and can brave the lines, you might be able to find a place to keep the party going. Toronto's latest addition to its draconian laws is that it does not permit smoking, not only inside bars & restaurants, but now not even on patios. If you need anything at all, have a great idea for an event, or have any questions, feel free to message me here or look me up online, and I'll be happy to help.
