Peaceful Lodge, Ballin Temple
Peaceful Lodge, Ballin Temple
Description
Overlooking the Blackstairs Mountains and gently rolling hills, the well appointed Lodge is set in a tranquil spot on the Slaney Valley. Spacious and comfortably furnished, the two-storey Lodge is popular with executives, families on holiday, and golfers playing at nearby Mount Wolseley. It's an ideal spot for touring South-East Ireland. The space The Lodge sleeps five very comfortably, with two ensuite doubles and a single. The peaceful, rural setting is enchanting. Surrounded by rolling green hills with a beautiful view of Leinster's Blackstairs Mountains, you are within easy touring distance of Wexford, Wicklow, Kilkenny, and Carlow towns. The famous Altamont Gardens, haunted Huntington Castle and brewers of the tasty O'Hara's Beer are close by. French doors open onto a large lawn lined with mature beech trees. The fresh, sweet country air has encouraged guests to walk, jog and cycle around the leafy lanes and nearby woodland. Our rural landscape provides shelter to all kinds of wildlife, and sometimes farm animals too (usually sheep, sometimes ponies). We do not use any chemical sprays in the garden. Despite thorough cleaning, it is possible that a harmless bug or spider may find it's way in. Feel free to ask us if ever you need help in this regard. The Lodge is fully and comfortably furnished. (kitchen, bed & bath linen, etc) and breakfast starter pack (milk, bread, butter, eggs, coffee, tea, sugar) are provided. We like to greet you and will give you as much guidance as you seek. Otherwise, we tend to let guests do their thing. Guest access You've got the house to yourself. We have a key to the exterior utility room door, as we very occasionally need access to tools or linen stored there. Guests also use this utility room for the washer/dryer/ironong board, cleaning materials, and downstairs loo. Guests have enjoyed picnics on the lawn, with lovely views of rolling hills and the Blackstairs Mountains. The parking area is shared with other guests. There is ample space for about 6 cars. Other things to note Utilities (electricity and heating oil) are not included on the basis that we give generous discounts for longer stays, and allow guests to manage their electricity and heating usage. We take a meter and oil reading and charge actual cost that we are billed for (there's not gain for us). Note that Irish electricity fees can be higher than other countries. There is no rubbish / recycling removal service available here, so guests are responsible for managing their waste, with our guidance. A composting bin is provided and recycling / rubbish amenities are well explained on arrival. We provide bins to separate recycling from rubbish if you choose to, and you can compost vegetation in a separate bin on site. The civic amenity site (landfill) is about 15 minutes' drive, on the main Carlow road. Guests usually need only one trip there per month. A service fee of €50 is applied if guests leave rubbish behind, to cover our costs. SHARED SPACE: The utility room contains the washing machine and dryer and a downstairs loo, all for guests' use. However some tools and equipment is also stored here that we may need to access from time to time. Please feel free to ask questions prior to arrival. Thank you.
