Featherstone Lodge A Stunning Home on the Vaal Dam

A large well appointed house overlooking the Vaal Dam. It has a huge deck and boma with built in gas braai and a braai stand for a charcoal fire, providing fantastic views of the dam - an ideal spot to enjoy drinks and el fresco dining. Free ranging game, including springbok, blesbok, wildebeest, duiker and fallow deer roam over the property. The house features 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, large living area, a large loft and a modern kitchen with microwave and dishwasher. There is ample parking. The space THE HOUSE. The house is an open plan design with high ceilings giving a feeling of unlimited space. All finishes are modern. The loft has a large TV with "Open View" decoder and plenty of space for the whole family to sit and enjoy a movie. Uncapped Wifi is available at no extra cost. THE KITCHEN. There is a fully equipped kitchen with gas stove top, oven, dishwasher, microwave oven and fridge/freezer. Pots, pans, crockery and cutlery are supplied. The venue is "self catering" so please provide your own food, hot and cold drinks and condiments. THE GARDEN. There is an attractive landscaped garden with acres of space. THE ESTATE. Situated on a private Eco Estate with free roaming wild life. On arrival, Joseph will point out the boundaries of Featherstone Lodge. You are welcome to fish and enjoy your other activities freely within this area. No motorized vehicles are allowed on the Common Property of the estate, except for access purposes. Please respect the privacy of other residents. Do not trespass on to their private property and no loud noise or music after 10.00 pm. On the quiet side of the dam with minimal water traffic, even on weekends and during the holidays. There is unlimited space to boat, ski, wakeboard or sail. SLIPWAY AND JETTY. We have a private slipway and jetty - so bring your boat and jet skis. All boats and jet skis must have a current COF and all drivers must be licensed as the water police patrol the area regularly. Quad Bikes, four wheelers and motorcycles are NOT ALLOWED at Featherstone Lodge. MAID SERVICE. Daily maid service is available for an additional fee which must be paid in cash to the maid each day on completion of her chores. This service can be arranged through Joseph on arrival. LAUNDRY SERVICE. No laundry service is available at Featherstone Lodge. NEARBY TOWNS. There is no public transport. Featherstone Lodge is approximately 6 km from the village of Oranjeville where there is a service station, a hotel, shops, liquor stores, pubs and restaurants. Deneysville is approx 25km away. Deneysville is a larger village than Oranjeville and boasts more facilities. ARRIVAL, DEPARTURE, KEYS AND SECURITY CLEARANCE. On arrival you will be met by Joseph who will take you on a tour of the property. He will be able to answer any questions that you might have. Check in time is between 2.00 pm and 6.00 pm on the day of arrival. Check ins after 6.00 pm will attract an extra charge of R500.00. If your arrival time is after 6.00 pm, no staff will be on site to give you access to the property. For arrivals after this time special arrangements will have to be made IN ADVANCE. Please note that we will require the registration number of each vehicle that will visit the estate, as well as the number of guests in each vehicle, to arrange security clearance before you arrive. Check out time is 12.00 noon. Late checkout will attract an additional charge of R500.00. PETS. Given that the lodge is situated in a nature reserve with free roaming wildlife, pets are NOT ALLOWED at Featherstone Lodge. Guest access On arrival the boundaries of the property will be pointed out to you by Joseph. You are welcome to fish, play games and enjoy other activities within this area. Please respect other residents of the estate. Do not trespass on their property, no noise or loud music after 10.00 pm and no parties. Other things to note NUMBER OF GUESTS. Eight guests can be accomodated in the 4 bedrooms and there is a double sleeper couch in the upstairs loft which can be used for an additional two guests, giving a maximum capacity of 10 guests. Linen for the sleeper couch is supplied. Guests in excess of 10 will be charged for at a rate of R400.00 per person per night, irrespective of age. No linen is available for additional guests. FIREPLACE. For cold winter evenings there is a modern sealed fireplace in the living area. Wood and fire lighters can be purchased on site or you are welcome to bring your own. Payment for wood and fire lighters must be in cash and be made to Joseph. Wood is sold at R50.00 per bag and fire lighters at R25.00 per packet. LOAD SHEDDING & POWER CUTS. We do not have a backup generator on site. Candels are provided in case of Eskom load shedding or blackouts. Water is supplied to the house by an electric pressure pump. Power cuts can, therefore, effect water pressure. QUAD BIKES, FOUR WHEELERS, MOTORCYCLES. Given that the house is situated in a nature area, quad bikes, four wheelers and motorcycles are not allowed.
