Cozy Bush Escape bordering Nairobi National Park
Cozy Bush Escape bordering Nairobi National Park
Description
Tucked away along the border of Nairobi National Park, The Hide is perfect for couples or solo explorers. Wake up to wildlife glimpses, then set off on guided game drives, bush walks, cultural visits, or savour nearby fine dining. Though our cottage is self-catering, excellent restaurants and take-away options are close by. We can also arrange transfers from Rongai or wherever you’re coming from. And this season, enjoy complimentary firewood for crackling evening fires under the African sky. The space The Hide is a self-catering sanctuary designed for comfort and privacy, perfect for those seeking an intimate connection with nature. Here’s what you can expect: LOCATION: Situated along the southern unfenced edge of Nairobi National Park, The Hide provides year-round opportunities for wildlife sightings. While ideal for nature enthusiasts, it is less suited for those prioritizing downtown activities or nightlife. The last 3 km of the access road is untarmacked. ACCOMMODATION: The bedroom features a comfortable double bed, large windows with garden views, and an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The open-plan living space includes a compact kitchen and a cozy lounge area, ideal for relaxation after a day of adventure. A small patio offers a peaceful spot for morning coffee or evening stargazing. WILDLIFE & NATURE: Spot giraffes, zebras, and other wildlife in the nearby Nairobi National Park. Private game drives and guided nature walks can be arranged directly from the property. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES: Take advantage of the available badminton, darts, boules, and barbecue facilities to unwind and enjoy the outdoors. CULTURAL EXPERIENCES: Discover Kitengela Glass workshops or savor local flavors at a nearby Nyama Choma joint, offering a rich cultural dining experience. DINING & WELLNESS: Guests have access to a compact, well-equipped kitchen for preparing meals. Takeaway meals can be ordered from Osoita Lodge (renowned for Indian cuisine and continental options) or City View (specializing in farm-raised pork and goat from Janini Farm). Private massages can be arranged for a relaxing end to your day. ACCESSIBILITY: Transfers can be arranged from any location in Nairobi or the end of the Uber network in Rongai (Quickmart). For larger groups, The Hide can be combined with Kampi ya Karin, the neighboring property, to create an extended space for a memorable bush retreat. Whether seeking solitude or adventure, The Hide provides a unique, tranquil escape at the edge of one of Kenya’s most iconic landscapes. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire maisonette and private terrace as well as the front garden. Other things to note SELF-CATERING: This listing is self-catering, so it’s recommended to stock up on groceries on your way to the house, as nearby village shops carry only basic essentials. The local motorbike (piki-piki) network can deliver supplies—even from downtown Nairobi—if needed. Takeaway options and private massages can also be arranged for added convenience. POWER CUTS: We run a backup generator during power cuts from 10 am-12 noon and 7 pm-9 pm. Feel free to let us know anytime if you need a boost in between. AIR TRAFFIC: Nairobi National Park is near the Jomo Kenyatta flight path, and occasional air traffic may be heard. However, the highly peaceful setting and natural beauty of the surroundings more than compensate for this.
