Downtown Walnut Creek Cottage (The Walnut)

Featured in San Francisco's 7x7 online magazine, our private-access cottages (“The Walnut” & “The Creek”) are tucked away in the heart of downtown’s highly desirable Almond-Shuey neighborhood, a charming enclave of 1920s and 30’s bungalow-style homes. The space After nearly 30 years in the hotel business and some exceptional Airbnb visits, my wife and I were inspired to share our hospitality by offering a first-class experience. We completely renovated our two guest cottages with the sole objective of providing comfortable, peaceful and well-equipped accommodations. “The Walnut”, a 720 SF bungalow-style cottage located behind our home, features polished concrete floors, a lighted redwood-beamed living area with brick fireplace (sorry, no fires - candles only), recessed lighting with offset lighting accents and warmly painted linen-colored walls. The alcove just off the entry offers a Pottery Barn desk and bookshelf unit should you need to spread out and get work done. USB outlets are also conveniently located on plugs throughout the cottage. The living area has a plush loveseat/couch and leather chair along with a 50-inch flat-panel Roku TV with smart functionality that offers access to over 4,000 streaming channels featuring more than 450,000 movies and TV episodes via Roku The bathroom features designer travertine wainscot walls, shower/tub combo along with a pedestal sink, large skylight and great lighting options. A single step up from the living area leads you to the private bedroom with lots of natural light. The bedroom features stylish seagrass flooring, recessed lighting, a full size dresser and closet with full length mirrors. Your rest is assured in the new queen-sized bed with 700 thread count sheets and a comfy plush comforter-duvet. The light and bright European kitchen has a honed-quartz countertop with an inset dual-burner cooktop, Italian-marble coffee bar and state-of-the-art appliances; an undercounter two-drawer fridge, automatic pull-drawer microwave, Breville countertop oven and Keurig coffee maker. This cottage is truly your well-equipped home away from home. Guest access Property. The Walnut cottage is one of two that are located behind our home. The second cottage (“The Creek”) is separated by a privacy fence. Access. Both cottages are accessible through the rounded iron gate down the right-side driveway. Once inside the gate, directional signs point you to The Walnut (on the left side) and The Creek (on the right). The front doors have a key-coded deadbolt. Confirmed guests will receive a personalized private entry code prior to arrival. Parking. There is ample street parking in front of the main house. A parking permit is located in the unit and must be returned on check-out or is subject to a $50 replacement fee. Laundry. A full-size washer & dryer are available for your use. They are located in the open garage adjacent to The Creek cottage. Laundry detergent & dryer sheets are provided. Yard and common area usage. Both cottages have a small patio area just outside the front doors. The common area yard also has a full-size gas grill, along with a complete set of outdoor furniture for your use. Other things to note Rate includes an 8.5% Walnut Creek Occupancy Tax Housekeeping: As hosts, we take housekeeping very seriously. Following every guest departure, we launder ALL linens and bedding, including duvet covers, blankets, sheets, pillow liners, pillow cases, including decorative ‘throw’ pillow covers and blanket throws. Our dedicated, professional housekeeper follows a cleaning checklist process that not only meets, but exceeds US hotel industry standards.
