Quiet Room 2 miles to Downtown - #2 SW Detroit
Description
Hola-Hello! My place is great if you're looking to get an authentic Detroit experience with insights (when I'm around) from someone born and raised here. We’re in the vibrant area of Southwest Detroit which is 1.5 miles from Downtown and many of the things that bring people to our city including: the Renaissance Center, Cobo Hall, Hart Plaza, Eastern Market, Wayne State University, Historic Michigan Central Station, Mexicantown Business District, Riverwalk, and the Detroit Institute of Art. The space As we say in Detroit: “WHAT UP DOE?!” My home is cozy, sunny, clean and peaceful. My cat Matis will give you endless kitty cuddles and in the warmer months, the backyard or front porch areas are great for lounging and relaxing. Whether you're here for business or to check out what's going on in Detroit, we think you will love staying with us! Please note: I do not provide guests with shampoo or shower gel. Guest access There is a lockbox on the front porch where you will find keys to get you into both the house and your private room. We do ask that when you leave the house you always lock both the front door and the screen door. If you plan to check in after 9pm, just let me know. But usually I’m less available to greet you the later it gets. There is Wi-Fi, so if you need to stay connected, we got you. The common areas are the kitchen, 2nd bathroom, and outdoor areas. I ask that people stay out of the living room since that's usually where I'm working. During your stay I'm around most of the time during the day if you need me and would be happy to help in any way that I can. Whether it’s to give you general information about getting around, some tips on the best restaurants and fun things to do in the D, or if you’re looking for someone to provide you with some historical context on the city from a local’s perspective. I’m your girl! I want to give you the local knowledge you need to make the most of your trip. However, I work from home a lot, and am currently in grad school, so I do ask that if you happen to see me zoned out in the living room (where my desk is located), that we try to keep the distractions/noise in the common areas to a minimum. I also enjoy really enjoy my downtime and can be somewhat introverted, so if we don’t cross paths don't feel weirded out by it. Once I’m ready to unwind, I’ll probably be locked up in my room feelin a bit anti-social. Treat me like a roommate, especially if you’re arriving late. Feel free to message me anytime if you need anything, but if it’s late, I may not answer until the morning. Other things to note Is the Southwest Detroit neighborhood safe? Yes, as safe as any other urban area in the country – but, be smart and mindful of your surroundings and if you drove here, I don’t recommend leaving valuables in your car. Feel free to spark up a conversation with neighbors and people you engage with during your visit about their opinions of the city. You will usually find that Detroiters are very friendly, outgoing, resourceful, and interesting people who would be happy to share the REAL Detroit narrative with you. If you’re not keen on chillin in your room, you are free to hang out in the kitchen or outdoor common areas, but I do ask that guest PLEASE stay out of the living room because that’s my work area and it’s just awkward to have to ask folks not to be distracting. Just be sure to clean up after yourself and let me know if you plan on making some elaborate meal so I can plan around you. There is a Keurig in the kitchen you are free to use if you like but bring your own k-cups/tea because I run out and can’t promise to have supplies. Matis is an outdoor cat so he can come in and out freely, but do not let him go down into the basement with you if you are doing laundry.
