Unique eco-house in Samaipata
We are Bill and Melissa, and are happy to host you in a uniquely beautiful cottage designed by a Feng Shi eco-architect. Amid five acres of rolling hillside and nestled in a grove of wild guapurú fruit trees, “Casa Guapurú” has a view that sweeps over Samaipata’s clay roofs and the green hills cupping them. Feels like the country, but the town center is a seven-minute stroll away (400 meters)! Enjoy two kilometers of on-site nature paths and pick seasonal orchard fruit, herbs, and veggies. The space This property is unique in Samaipata... a 2.5 hectare "quinta" or country property very close to town. Most other central properties have been divided up--not Quinta Guapuru. You have total privacy, and the house is surrounded by flower and herb gardens and native trees. Enjoy hammocks overlooking the 400-year-old pueblo, a private patio with a bench, a nestled tree platform in a soto tree for the kids, and a 'mirador', or viewpoint, for sipping wine as the sun sets. The house has one main bedroom with a double bed, and a mezzanine where a mattress can be added. The second bedroom is a nice-sized mezzanine over the open plan kitchen-living room-dining area, and has a double and single bed, and also a spectacular view. The sofa doubles as a single bed, with sheets, and sits within a creative rounded main area. We can provide extra matresses so that 8 people can fit. Also, a tent can be provided for fun camping on the land or next to the house. You can also sleep on the tree platform. All wastewater and greywater is recycled through an evapo-transpiration system and banana circles. Guest access Totally private. During your stay We are a North American couple who live with our six-year-old daughter in another house on the same five-acre permaculture site, out of sight from where you’ll stay. We have a combined twenty-year history in Bolivia, writing books and doing environmental and human rights work. We left the "rat race" to enjoy the sweet life in the country. We love the beautiful land we steward in our adopted community and are happy to share it with you! We will make sure your needs are met during your stay. Feel free to ask us anything. Also, co-host William Powers is author of two books on Bolivia: "Dispatches from the Sweet Life" and "Whispering in the Giant's Ear". His books are available for you to read during your stay.
