Description

It is located before reaching Jampa Lhakhang and is accessed by the same road which heads out of Chamkhar town. It is located on the (right side of the road) five kilometers from town on the way to Kure temple. We offer varieties of authentic Bumthap Cuisine with other typical Bhutanese dishes. The stay provides a clean environment with convenient parking spaces. The space While Bhutan as a country is known as the last Shangrila and the last standing Buddhist Kingdom on the planet, Bumthang is known as the religious heartland of the country. And our home-stay is located in one of the most sacred places that stands today, i.e., Chagkhar, the Iron Castle. In the 8th century, King Sindhu Raja was living in this spot of the present Lhakhang in the nine storied iron castle. The castle was believed to be a colossal, nine-storied edifice built with various layers of metal. However, the local evil spirits and devils took away the kings soul and thus fell ill. The King then invited Guru Padmasambava, the enlightened Indian saint to Bumthang to his rescue. Guru subdued the evil spirits and restored King Sindu Raja’s soul. Guru then had imparted the inner-most tantric teachings to the King and his family at Kurjey Lhakhang, Jambay Lhakhang and at Chagkhar, the King’s Palace. Then in the 14th century, as per Guru's prophecy, Terton Dorji Lingpa “the great treasure reveler” built the present three storied Chagkhar Lhakhang on the spot where the castle stood. Therefore, owing to the great significance and wonders of the Chagkhar Lhakhang, the legacy has since then been passed on by the descendants and we are the present generation. While staying at our home-stay, you can also visit Chagkhar Heritage Museum and Chagkhar Lhakhang where most of the valuable old relics and treasures discovered by Dorji lingpa in the 13th century are preserved. Other things to note The tariff is solely for lodging and is exclusive of fooding and service charges.
