Kavumbu Camp

Kavumbu is the perfect midway stop-over en route to Liuwa Plain NP and is only 4.5 hrs drive from Liuwa. This private holiday home offers access to a remote stretch of best of the upper Zambezi River that is the home to a variety of wildlife including many southern African bird species. The staffed self-catering camp offers a unique and affordable self-catering bush experience: including your own cook, exclusive use of the central camp as well as opportunity to take out a fishing boat. The space Our vacation home has been designed to be a destination that truly defines a uniquely African wilderness experience. The bungalow is surrounded by lawns and set in riverine forest. There is access to an outside thatched dining area and riverside barbeque, as well as a restful river-deck set under a fig tree with views stretching far down-river. Guest access 1- Camping sites with facilities are also available if needed for larger parties of up to 6 campers: additional camping rates apply. 2- Motor boat rental and mokoro trips for bird-watching and fishing on site. Other things to note The camp is set within a wilderness area which means that you stay AT YOUR OWN RISK as some animals - particularly hippos - may be on land at night: we've only seen them in the river in front of the camp. Take care and act responsibly. As a rustic setting for a family vacation, Kavumbu blends the spaciousness of a private bush home with services and amenities for a comfortable and relaxing stay. So you'll be living on the river with staff available both during the day and with an attendant on the property over night too. Staff will be very helpful and attentive and a 5 to 10% tip would be appropraite.
