The space The Half Orange was the center of the social activity of the work... Here one rested, made conversation, fulfilled all the acts inherent to the conviviality that the work of the field demands. ... it was the noble hall of the fields, it fulfilled this double function of improvised warehouse and living room of visits and meals, to sleep a little, under the providential tree receiving the fresco of the branching and the faint plowing that went through the branches agitated the leaves. ... the best of both worlds! The Meia Laranja, was the social activity center of the works... it was where people could rest and chat, it was where all the acts, inherent to the community that the work of the countryside demands, could be fulfilled.
