Description
Our place is in the mountains on the edge of town and National Forest, 1.5 miles from 10,000 Waves Japanese Spa, 10 minutes to the Plaza in the heart of Santa Fe, and 20 minutes to the ski basin with unlimited hiking and mountain biking in between. The house is tasteful, private, quiet, has amazing views, and has easy access to Santa Fe's finest restaurants, galleries, and activities. Great for couples, solo or family adventurers, or business travelers. 4X4 recommended in winter, check with us. The space This mountain top-solar powered eco home is of newer construction and has lots of views, great light, and privacy. Each bedroom has its own sink, closet storage, a door to the outside, multiple windows, and a ceiling fan. The king size beds are made with hypoallergenic bamboo and fitted with organic or natural bedding materials. The kitchenette includes an induction counter stove top, countertop convection oven, toaster, electric kettle, coffee press, and a microwave (stored in the pantry if you need it, along with standard dishes, cutlery, etc). The walls are diamond finished plaster throughout the space, with details such as large book shelves with stone inlay, hand carved wooden beams, and creative lighting. The house shares a doorway with an unoccupied space in the adjacent main house, but is kept locked for the privacy and solitude of guests. High ceilings and ornate finishes give the space the feel of a luxurious hotel accommodation. There is a single private bathroom with an oversized custom built shower. The common space features a wood fireplace, a small library, comfortable seating, and picturesque views. There is a new pull-out couch that can sleep additional people, a music system, and a collection of kids toys and local guidebooks. Facing the National Forest is a private porch with more seating, a table/fire-pan (occasionally fire restrictions are in effect for Santa Fe and this can't be used, check with us) and a propane barbecue. Every room has its own radiant heating thermostat and passive solar heating. All the water remains on the land with an alternative septic system that the landscape benefits from (don’t worry- it’s a normal flush toilet!). We provide biodegradable products so you can pack light and our cleaning supplies are environmentally safe. Guest access Our house is in an ideal location for access to town and to the mountains. Culture, arts, restaurants, and nightlife are only 10 minutes away. Mountain trails are out the front door, mountain biking is in every direction, and we offer some of the closest access to the ski area. Ten Thousand Waves Japanese spa is only 1.5 miles away, along with Santa Fe public transportation that will take you to town or to the mountain, which provides mountain bike carriers. The winter months can be snowy, so 4x4 vehicles are highly recommended to fully access the driveway. Other things to note We live in a residential area on the top of the mountain/hill providing some of the best views in Santa Fe. Issues you should know about include: Wi-Fi: Yes, sometimes the neighborhood overwhelms the available bandwidth. The Road: Is paved, steep, and in the mountains. In the winter it is plowed regularly, but 4 wheel drive is highly suggested if not familiar with driving in varying weather (snow and ice) conditions. We are happy to help you navigate the short mile to our house if needed, and we work hard to keep our driveway accessible. Santa Fe is located at 7,000+ft, but with lots of sun, weathered roads don't usually last long. G00gle Maps: Takes you to our neighbors house... Look for our street number, 3262, and you will know you're at the right place! We are permitted as an Owner Occupied Short Term Rental with Santa Fe County, Permit # 23-6082
