Farside Cabin

Far from the madding crowds on a secluded mountain top with breath taking views, Farside Cabin is the ideal escape for those who seek a romantic getaway or peaceful solitude. Located on the Eastern Continental Divide, Farside Cabin is ideal for hikers, and remote workers alike who require fast internet, a weekend escape or a simply a good book on the deck. Farside Cabin offers mid century rustic charm with modern amenities such as high speed fiber optic internet(380 mbps) and all mod cons. The space One level living makes Farside Cabin a great retreat with easy access for all travelers both young and old. Breath taking views from the large al fresco dining deck, master bedroom and enclosed porch dining area. The loft room is ideal for children and grown ups who don't mind stairs. The sofa bed on the enclosed porch offers a degree of privacy with breath taking views. Find all that you will need in a fully kitted out kitchen. For the elderly or infirm traveler the cabin is easy to negotiate the main floor with no stairs and master bedroom with en suite walk in shower with mountain views. Guest access The entire cabin is available to guests with stairs leading up to a loft bedroom and down to the laundry room via pocket door next to fridge, and a lower enclosed porch room that leads to the back garden. There is ample parking for 2-3 cars. Walking trails on level ground can be accessed right from the front door. Other things to note Farside Cabin is on a mountain top on the eastern continental divide accessed via a winding highway. The last mile to the cabin is a well maintained winding gravel road for which I provide detailed directions the day before check in. Arrival during day light hours is strongly advised. However guests are warned it may not be for those squeamish about mountain roads. Four wheel and AWD vehicles are not necessary except during rare winter storms and I keep my guests advised about road conditions. Black Mountain township is only 3.5 miles from the cabin with numerous shops, grocery stores and restaurants. Internet is newly installed high speed fiber optic internet with speeds of up to 380 MBPS. Loft bedroom is accessed via a small set of stairs and does not have en suite bathroom, so if guests prefer bathroom access on the same floor, besides the master bedroom with en suite bath, a sofa bed which is on the same floor as second bathroom is available. There is also a day bed on the enclosed porch. Check in and check out times are usually flexible depending on scheduling and guest turn around. Since Hurricane Helene there has been ongoing road repairs but it has been made accessible for all residents who traverse our road.
