In Connecticut's "Quiet Corner", a fully renovated 2-level house bathed in sunlight, with lovely flower beds and stunning hilltop views. Relax on its patios and in its small swimming pool, stroll along its forest paths, observe birds (including birds of prey) and other wildlife. New England's "Last Green Valley National Heritage Corridor" offers multiple attractions and is home to many schools, universities, fairs, artists/artisans, farms, special events and year-round activities. This home sleeps 7 adults in luxury and comfortably accommodates up to 12 adults when 2 share a full-size bed, 2 use a quality self-inflating queen air mattress, and 2 sleep on a queen-size sofa bed. The main level offers 3 bedrooms: a large master suite with king-size bed and full bathroom (shower over tub); an average size bedroom with 2 twin beds- both these bedrooms have bay windows with stunning views; the third bedroom is smaller (cozy yet cheerful!), on the other side of the house, with a full-size bed. This part of the house also has a centrally located, full shower room, and offers the use of the air-mattress mentioned earlier. The premises feature new solid oak floors throughout, central HVAC, kitchen with granite countertops & centerl island, quartz vanity tops, X-large washer & dryer, quality rugs/furniture/decor/equipment, and more. Numerous bay windows and patio doors invite daylight and nature inside each room, making this home a quality retreat. For groups over 6 guests, the lower level is automatically added to the reservation: it offers a recently-built independent apartment full of windows toward the view, reached both from the inside (staircase between floors) or from the outside (dedicated path with railing and gentle slope on one side of the house, stairs from the terraces on the other side). It offers one bedroom with a queen-size bed, a good size full-bathroom (shower over tub) and a sofa bed. The open living space consists of a lounging area, a dining area, a full kitchen, and a laundry zone. This apartment also boasts central HVAC and good quality rugs/furniture/decor/equipment. It is a completely independent living space that can easily be kept separate from the main floor. Between these 2 living quarters, and accessible from each, is an exercise room. It is on the lower floor and made available to anyone staying at Cedar Ridge. Private amenities include: - Self-check-in and self-check-out with keyless door (keypad access code). - Wireless internet (100 megs download). - 55” Roku TV with access to a Netflix account; guests may also access their own personal accounts- but we do not offer cable TV, as most people opt for show- & movie- services instead. - Seasonal outdoor in-ground and fenced-in swimming pool with lounge chairs (summer only, not heated). - Stone patios with eating & sitting areas. - Gas grill and Fire pit. - 2-car garage. - Desk in front-room for office work. - Several sitting areas with exquisite views. - Antique dining table with 2 optional extensions. - Renovated & fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, 2 stoves, coffee machine, plus additional special equipment (crockpot, juicer, mixer, fondue set, etc.). - Obstacle Course (Ninja Warrior) and Zip Line for children: under adult supervision only, and bring a helmet for any child who intends to use the zip line. Note: We do not provide any guarantee as to the condition of these items, nor assume responsibility for their use; parents must judge safety first, avoiding use if structures appear unsafe in any way; and above all watch any child without interruption! - Hanging hammock chair for all. My wife Susan and I live further up the hill at "Chancery Rise". Susan's family is from the area but they lived in Europe for decades. Susan is a retired biologist, a professional translator, and bilingual English French; she speaks some Italian and can understand a lot of Spanish. I am a psychologist specializing in addictions and interventions, also retired. I practice energy-pathway work with a unique approach developed over decades of experience (following intense Shiatsu training with an Indian Master); my mother tongue is German. We gladly help any way we can when we are at home, but privacy in our Airbnb is respected. Each living quarter is completely separate from the others and meeting any of us is at the discretion of our guests. Woodstock, CT is a rural community with several active farms; its countryside, forestry, lakes, and parks are peaceful and well-maintained. The town offers antiques/artisan shops, a few eateries/restaurants, and historical landmarks; it is also home to the famous Woodstock Fair. Many attractions and events are within easy driving distance. Some of our favorites are: visiting artists & artisans (Artist Open Studios); walks and visits- historical, educational, or other- in October (Walktobers); reconstituted American village from the 1790s-1830s (Old Sturbridge Village); large antique fair (Brimfield Antique & Collectibles Show); very large lake with an unpronounceable Indian name (more readily referred to as Webster Lake) with its Indian Ranch campsite that offers boat tours and outdoor concerts; activities in the streets of Putnam, CT, the first Friday of each month throughout the summer (First Fridays in Putnam); a show with bonfires over the three rivers in downtown Providence, RI (WaterFire) etc. There are summer camps for children as well as horse-riding facilities, many parks and hiking trails, and a lot more. Cities: we are about ½ an hour's drive to Worcester, MA; 1 hour or less to Hartford, CT, to Providence, RI and to Springfield, MA; 1 hour & 15-30 minutes to Boston, to Cambridge and to Amherst, MA. Education: many schools, colleges & universities are within 10-45 mins. Sports: 10-25 mins to golf courses; 20 mins to Webster Lake (public beach, boat launching access, Indian Princess boat rides, outdoor concerts) in Webster, MA and to Thompson Raceway in Thompson, CT; 10-40 mins to local or state parks; 1hr to ski slopes. Other noteworthy attractions: 15-30 mins to different Wineries; 1hr to CT casinos (also concerts); 1-1.5 hr to boat rides on the CT river; 1.5 hr to MA Berkshires (Tanglewood, Winter sports, etc.). - Longterm rental is available: the property is ideal for visiting professionals (professors, university staff, traveling nurses, company experts, etc.), boarding school parents, and anyone in need of extended stays. Please contact us if you are interested in a long-term rental. - Our driveway consists of a long path covered with milled asphalt and going up the hill; it splits into 2 separate paths and there are clear signs toward each residence, so please make sure to follow signs to #39 Cedar Ridge. In case of ice or snow, we recommend that you drive around the pond: instead of taking a left at the first signs, continue straight, then around the pond, and take a left at the second set of signs. - Please note that for up to 6 guests, the main floor is offered to guests, and the apartment below is kept empty to avoid 2 different groups renting at the same time. Above 6 guests, both floors are made available. Any group with fewer than 7 guests wishing to make use of the apartment as well as the main floor should communicate with us beforehand to arrange this, for a slightly higher fee to cover the extra utilities, linen, cleaning etc.
