Description

Yurt in a private forest area. Walking distance to the cheese factory (ice cream, lunches, snacks), produce stands, and a park. Short drive to Madoc (groceries, beer/ LCBO, parks, beach, bakery, restaurants, etc). Perfect area for star gazing, long walks & bike rides. This yurt is in a camping setting, with indoor compost toilet, seasonal private outdoor shower, no wifi but there is electricity, dishes, indoor hot plate, BBQ, mini fridge, all pots & pans and bedding and clean drinking water. The space ***** For winter stays, guests are required to supply their own wood for the indoor wood stove (see below) if you are not comfortable using a wood stove it is not a good idea to stay in the winter as it is the ONLY source of heat****** We have a wood hut at the entrance to the yurt trail to buy wood from. It is $5 a pail. The yurt is on the same 20 acre property as our house, but it is in its own secluded area in the forest. There is an indoor private bathroom ( compost toilet)in the yurt and a seasonal outdoor shower with warm water. For guest stays over two days in the cold months, guests are welcome to come up and use the house shower. We supply a canoe to use. Includes 2 adult life jacket, paddles, emergency kit and foam blocks + ratchet straps to transport the canoe on a vehicle. Getting the canoe to and from the lake is the guest's responsibility. The Moira Lake boat launch is a 7 minute drive. There is a screened in porch as of spring 2025, to enjoy the outdoors with the hassle of the bugs! As of September 2025 there is a seasonal, outdoor shower. For the month of December, a small Christmas tree is setup with decorations for guests to decorate during their stay! The yurt is all setup to cook meals both inside and out with all cookware, dishes and utensils provided (including a single burner cooktop, bbq, toaster oven, a toaster, mini fridge, kettle, coffee press, & water cooler) . We have provided an a single burner indoor stovetop for the interior and a propane bbq for the outside. The outside area of the yurt is in a secluded spot and includes a covered seating area, chairs, a fire pit and the game "cornhole". Guests are required to supply their own wood. We have an onsite woodshed to buy wood from at the yurt entrance ( $5 a pail).. If you are not comfortable using and running a wood stove, a winter stay may not be the best time to enjoy the yurt- this is still winter camping! We do provide detailed descriptions on how to run the wood-stove and during the winter you can heat to a comfortable 18C or more if you run it properly. The yurt has a lighter summer duvet for the warmer months and a heavy goose down duvet with additional blankets for the winter months. In the winter months we supply 2 pairs of snowshoes. We do charge an extra fee for additional guests ($10 per night) to cover supply costs and cleaning, but this is only applicable to additional adult guests. Families are welcome to bring their kids with no extra person fees. We charge an additional $25 cleaning fee for guests with pets. We ask that you please keep your pets with you at all times and out of our gardens as they are part of revenue that we depend on. We supply propane for the bbq but if it is left on and the tank emptied, guests will be charged for a new tank of gas. Please be mindful of turning off the propane when you're done! Onsite we run a little farm/coffee/ art stand that is open Wednesday- Sunday ! Offerings change weekly:) If you are looking to relax and take in nature then this is the place for you. Guest access You are welcome to walk around our 20 acre property. The trails ebb and flow with the season, often overgrown but you are welcome to explore nonetheless. Just be mindful of walking onto neighbours properties and please do not leave any trash or pet surprises. Other things to note Please keep in mind that with the yurt being in a camping setting, there is no A/C in the warmer months and only a wood stove for heat in the winter. It is the guests responsibility to supply the wood for the wood stove. We are happy to show you how to use the wood stove if you would like a hand! We do not provide wi-fi. Depending on your provider, there is great reception out here still. We hope to provide a space that inspires you to unplug and recharge from the over stimulation of our world and take in the magic of Mother Nature, There is now a seasonal outdoor shower (May- October), but stays over two days are welcome to come up and use the house shower during the off season. There is clean drinking water and a kettle for boiling water and a sink to do dishes, but there is no running water at the yurt. We supply propane for the bbq but if it is left on and the tank emptied, guests will be charged for a new and of gas. Please be mindful of turning off the propane when you're done! The parking area is a couple minutes walk from the yurt site, down a cleared trail. It is not wheelchair accessible unfortunately.
