This historic house has been extensively refurbished with modern kitchen, bathrooms, two covered porches, extensive lawns, and a 3-bay parking barn. The space - My many-great grandfather, Revolutionary War soldier Nathaniel Sawyer erected the home in 1798 and it is believed to be the first permanent structure in Belpre Township. - The home was part of the historic Underground Railway and you can still see remnants of the escape passage that went out from the stone basement through a dry the well that has not yet been excavated. - The town post office was located behind the home and has been converted to a two-bedroom cottage. There is a public boat ramp 1.7 miles away in Little Hocking, or a larger ramp 7 miles away in Civitan Park in Belpre, OH. You might also want to visit beach, dock or water falls at Forked Run State Park (19 miles, see photos). Country roads in the area are ideal for strolling or all day forays in the countryside.
