Guide to what to see in Salerno: Very close to our apartment, about 300 meters away, there is the Mercatello park, an oasis surrounded by greenery where you can relax and play sports, also equipped for the little ones because it has rides for our little guests. To visit the Amalfi coast you have to get to the city center and to be exact to Piazza della Concordia, from there all the sea metros depart that will take you to the most renowned coastal locations. The historic center is particularly rich in monuments, including the Cathedral of Salerno where the remains of our patron saint, San Matteo, rest in the crypt below the cathedral, decorated in marble and enriched on the sides by an elegant canopy. The gardens of Minerva, where the healing herbs were grown for the first important medical institution in Europe, from here the Salerno Medical School was born, as such and considered by many as a precursor of modern universities. The complex of San Pietro a Corte tells the story of Salerno from the Roman age to the eighteenth century better than any other place. It is the only testimony of the ancient palace of the Arechi princes, and represents a unique example of Lombard civil architecture in Europe. The Arechi castle dominates the city of Salerno from above, from its terraces you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire Gulf of Salerno. The Trieste promenade is a walk of about a kilometer and a half where there are fish restaurants with local products and pizzerias, and then continue to the beach of Santa Teresa with its solarium, frequented by young and old. Moving on, you reach Piazza della Libertà, where you can admire the city's night skyline and the promenade with nightclubs with live music, and then arrive at the maritime station of the famous architect Zaha Hadid, a starting point for cruise passengers and a place where events are organized. Corso Vittorio Emanuele is the ideal place for shopping, there you will find all the trendy shops and bars for women to enjoy an aperitif. The area of Via Roma and Piazza Flavio Gioia is particularly popular with young people. What to do in Salerno: Definitely take a walk on our promenade and beaches, where you can enjoy our fantastic sunsets. Possibility to rent electric bikes and boats to go on solo excursions visiting the coast from another point of view. For those who are passionate about trekking, the famous path of the Gods offers a breathtaking view winding between the Amalfi and Sorrento coasts. The nightlife is the best, there are clubs where you can dance to disco music and have fun. Culinary specialties: Being a seaside town, local fish products, in particular fried anchovies, are a local specialty. The anchovy sauce, produced in Cetara. The buffalo mozzarella Campana DOC, a typical product of the Cilentana coast. Fried pizza and Charlot's croquettes. Finally, you can't miss the brioche of Neptune.
