Sleepy Sunbeam Canyon Wren Room
The Sleepy Sunbeam Guest Barn was originally a barn in the 1920's and over the last century was gradually remodeled into the home it is today. You have chosen the Canyon Wren Room, on the main floor, conveniently across the hall from the bathroom. The Canyon Wren Room is a cozy room with a queen bed and an east facing window that looks out across the back deck to a view of the San Juan Mountains. The room is on the main level, decorated in grey, white, black and natural wood tones. Located right next to the slightly larger Western Tanager Camp Room, your room is right across the hall from the bathroom. When there are guests in the Camp Room the bathroom is shared. When you stay in the Canyon Wren Room feel free to use the kitchen, living room and dining area. The deck off of the east back of the house is a great place to soak up the sun, while the covered front porch is shady most of the day until it is warmed up by the setting sun. Anyone staying at the Sleepy Sunbeam will have access to WiFi. The living room has a television gives you access to hulu, netflix, youtube, as well as other choices on our apple tv. We're are here to help. Our room is just upstairs. If there is anything you need during your stay, just ask. We want you to be comfortable and enjoy yourself. Set at the base of the Abajo Mountains, Monticello is a tranquil mountain town at just over 7000 feet elevation. Our small town has a quiet charm, and the surrounding landscape is beautiful. The historic town siren goes off every day at 8am, noon and 6pm as it has for years. Temperatures in Monticello are generally about 15 degrees cooler than nearby Moab, which is 45 minutes away and 3000 feet lower in elevation. From Monticello you can easily take day trips to visit Canyonlands, Monument Valley, Natural Bridges, Arches and more. Or simply drive ten minutes up to the camp areas in our own Abajo Mountains and go for a hike or hang out by the lake. Monticello is a small town and you can easily walk or drive to the grocery store, post office or library from our house. You will never have any trouble finding parking in and around town. If you are arriving on a Sunday you should know that many local businesses are closed this day. A convenience store at the gas station is always open.
