The space Located about 1 mile from Carmel By the Sea and 3 miles from Monterey. Reg and Susanne live in the house above with sweet Shawna dog, 35 lb. This is not a sterile hotel room; is a cute place with books and games, and LPs. It is cozy, and romantic, private two-rooms, with kitchenette and private bathroom. Forest view on lower level of our home in a beautiful area on a hill above Carmel and Pebble Beach. Wood-burning fireplace, wood provided (although it sometimes is damp so you might prefer to bring some) Two rooms: outer sitting room and inner bedroom: queen size bed with memory foam mattress, and ottoman that becomes a small cot. Long sofa in outer room for extra guest. Floor to ceiling windows looking at totally private forest area and wildlife. Deck is for your use as well, table and chairs. There is an outdoor grill. Great sunsets. Kitchen has a microwave/convection oven, toaster, hotpot, coffee press pot OR regular coffee maker, 1 burner, refrigerator and small freezer, all utensils, pans and dishware. We leave coffee and tea, snacks and oatmeal for guests. Bathroom has walk-in shower with a glass door, (no bathtub), hair-dryer, shampoo, lotion, (razors or tooth brushes upon request) etc. All linens provided. Outdoor table and chairs on deck, beach chairs, towels and mats for use. Games, books, XFINITY TV- HBO, DVDs., LPs, turntable. Free wireless internet. Free parking and private entrance. Free use of washer, dryer and iron. There is central heat controlled from upper level where host lives which is generally off unless requested because it can be a little noisy. Portable heaters, extra blankets provided. There is also a fan if it is too hot, however, windows do open. NOTE: We have a dog door in the unit that can be blocked or open and fenced yard. We provide sheets to cover furniture. NOTE: there are a few steps in the unit indicated on the photos. NOTE: There are sometimes spiders and flies due to location near forest. We try to find them but sometimes miss one or two. NOTE: We are located near Highway 1 although at night it is very quiet. PLEASE NOTE: There are a few low ceilings (if you are above 6'2" or so you may want to think about it) and a few single steps up in the unit. The access is down a hill and the exit is back up the hill (not particularly steep) so if your footing is unsure, you might not want to stay here. Luggage needs to be carried and not rolled. Price includes County Occupancy Tax. Guest access PLEASE READ : you will be able to view address and arrival instructions only after booking. Be sure to print it out or copy and save before arrival! Exterior lights are motion activated. Unit is totally private. DO NOT enter through main blue gate, please. Parking: Use right side of driveway next to bushes. Walk down right side of house by where you parked along the path by firewood .(There is motion sensor lighting). Follow path around to rear of building and up 3 steps to deck entrance. (There is a "dog in yard" sign on the steps). Once on the deck do a left quasi U-turn and you will see your door. "Studio". The key will be under the doormat. Make yourself at home. Instructions are in the unit. Please keep deck gate closed. Be sure to message us upon first arrival and departure at end of stay. If you plan to arrive at night, please let us know so we can leave a light on for you. We are here to help so do not hesitate to ask for anything; otherwise we leave you alone. Thanks! Other things to note Please avoid booking if you are looking for a hotel type sparseness. This is the lower level of our home and most guests enjoy the books, LPs, etc. There is a wood-burning fireplace and if it has been used recently, there is sometimes a woodsmoke smell. If you have sensitivity to that, please make note. NOTE: The unit has a few steps up and steps down. The access is down a hill and exit back up hill (not particularly steep) so if your footing is unsure, this may not be the place for you. Not handicap accessible. Some guests feel ceilings are low. One of us is 6' 3 with no issues. We do love dogs. We have a sweet dog named Shawna. Reg and I live upstairs and are in and out. Please mention your pets when booking. Someone is always reachable for emergencies. It tends to be chilly in evening, particularly. Portable heaters, extra blankets provided. There is also a portable fan if it is too warm. Windows do open. Beach chairs/towels/mats available for use. Umbrella for rain provided. Please note-Since the unit is booked nearly every night of the year we try to do maintenance between guests so if you notice anything missing or in need of repair please bring it to our attention as soon as possible. Thanks! Please use gloves provided when getting firewood. Because of proximity to the woods, there are sometimes there are spiders and flies depending on the time of year. BE ALERT: When visiting this area, never turn your back to the ocean while on the beach because this area has what are called "rogue waves". If you walk the beaches with a dog, be sure to keep an eye out.
