The Birch Suite: Large, Cozy NH Themed Apartment
Description
Our home and attached apartment is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood in southern NH, just minutes from major N/S highway Route 93. We are thrilled to offer our New Hampshire-themed apartment to individuals, couples and families. Each room is decorated to represent the most interesting aspects of our state: the purple lilac bathroom, the maple bedroom, the white birch living room and a large second bedroom/playroom we call "the state room" - a fun, educational room of all things New Hampshire. The space Our extremely large, open concept apartment space is bright, modern and super-clean ... ready for business travelers who require a quiet space to work or families who need room to spread out. Below please find detailed information about each room, but if you have any specific questions, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask. KITCHEN The kitchen features a full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, stove, large two sided sink, Keurig (and pods), and toaster with plenty of counter space in which to work. In the cabinets you will find at your disposal mixing bowls, pots, pans and oven ware to keep the cook in your family happy. Additionally, there are cups, plates, glasses, mugs and silverware - paper plates are not necessary here! And don't bother bringing things like a can opener, potato peeler, measuring cups/spoons, whisks or an ice cream scoop, because we have those covered too! DINING AREA The wooden kitchen table can comfortably seat up to five people, is well lit and tucked in a corner near the kitchen. Each chair has a cushion so that conversation around the table can linger. The room has hardwood flooring so any spills are a quick clean up. LILAC BATHROOM The large bathroom represents our state flower, the purple lilac. Enjoy lilac scented soaps and lotion, deep purple towels and a large sink space to put all your bathroom belongings. The tub features jets for a relaxing bath or take a quick shower using the massaging head. MAPLE BEDROOM The master bedroom is maple themed since maple is a big part of our life here ... from maple syrup to maple cotton candy to maple sugar candy ... we love maple in New Hampshire! The bedroom features a queen sized bed, two nightstands, two side lamps, an overhead light, a dresser and a large walk-in closet. In the closet you will find dozens of hangers, a shoe holder, extra sheets, blankets and pillows. The curtains are room darkening for those lazy days when you can sleep in! It is worth noting that the apartment is above the garage of the main home and while it is somewhat insulated you will periodically hear garage doors going up and down, rarely before 7:00 am in the morning. The walk-in closet is so large (6 1/2 feet wide by 6 1/2 feet long) that a portable crib could easily fit inside if you have a young one you want to keep close by. WHITE BIRCH LIVING ROOM The white birch is our state tree and birch abounds in the living room. The super comfy couch features two recliners and at each end are two end tables with real birch lamps. Across the room is a Smart TV. Make sure to bring your password(s) to sign into your own personal streaming services OR you can cast from a device. There is also some free programming through Vizio TV. There are plenty of windows in this room making for a very bright space or close the blinds for privacy. Find NH related books in the bookcase to learn more about our great state. The hardwood floor is covered with a cozy shag rug. THE "STATE" ROOM The state is multi-purpose room that can be used as a second bedroom for children or teens. It also has a desk and comfortable chair for your laptop. This room has a futon that can be transformed into a double bed but in addition we have high quality, quite comfortable self-inflating air mattresses (both queen and twin) available upon request. This large room can sleep three children or adults. [NOTE: Any couples in this room will sleep on a queen air mattress on a platform with a comfortable memory foam topper.] This room does not have a closet (although the nearby laundry room could definitely serve as one). A room divider is in the corner of the room which can be used to divide the room into two sections if necessary. The state room has games, books and other similar entertainment for children. This is an educational room in that there are New Hampshire in general (and Londonderry specific) memorabilia, flags and signs for your reading enjoyment. It is worth noting that the "State Room" shares a wall with the kitchen in the main house so anybody sleeping there might hear some soft morning conversation or microwave sounds/beeps. DECK Attached to the apartment is a private deck where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee on warm days. This overlooks a beautiful tree lined back yard where birds are known to sing, bunnies can be seen hopping through and on rare occasion, even deer can be sighted. LAUNDRY ROOM There is a laundry room (washer and dryer) in the apartment for your use during your stay. There is also an iron and ironing board. There are long rods to hang clothes (especially important for anybody sleeping in the "State Room" which does not have its own closet) and foldable suitcase stands. AIR CONDITIONING Yes, the apartment is air conditioned and available May through September, although you will probably only need it in July and August. The controls are in your space so set it at a comfortable temperature of your choosing. BACKYARD The backyard is fenced in with a lot of grass for kids to play or adults to throw a Frisbee. There is also a play set on which younger children can play. The only thing we ask is that you and your guests stay off the bricked patio ... otherwise, enjoy the beautiful backyard space! PARKING There is a dedicated parking space right next to the apartment for your use. This space is just a few steps from your private entrance (one flight of stairs) up to the apartment. SAFETY We have quite a few safety features in the apartment: outlets plugs are covered, a carbon monoxide detector is in the kitchen area, and a smoke detector is in the living room right outside the master bedroom. Also, for families with children, please be aware that the apartment is up one flight of stairs so there is an inside set of (emergency exit) stairs (and a half wall) near the state room. Please watch your young ones that they don't climb and potentially fall down the stairs. (We do have a strong safety gate.) ALLERGENS There are hardwood floors in the kitchen, master bedroom, dining, living room and laundry room. Tile is in the entryway, bathroom and hallway area. The "State Room" has carpeting. The apartment space has never had cats or dogs as we have family members that are allergic. For this reason we unfortunately cannot accommodate guests with pets. If you are allergic to smells or cleaning chemicals, please make sure to let us know. There are no candles or potpourri in the apartment but our lilac bathroom has scented soaps and creams. We will be glad to replace them with unscented ones for your stay and use organic cleaning supplies prior to your arrival. Simply make a request and we will be glad to accommodate you! ACCESSIBILITY The outside, private entrance to the apartment is up one flight of straight steps. Once in, however, the entire apartment is on one level with no steps and lots of space in which to navigate easily. FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN As stated earlier, the large walk in closet in the master bedroom can easily be converted into a makeshift nursery. We have put plugs in all of the unused electrical outlets and have a strong wood stairwell gate that is screwed into the wall for your children's safety. The backyard is fenced in with a playset available for your children as long as they are supervised. We ask is that you do not enter the bricked patio area. NOISE We live in a quiet residential neighborhood. Likewise, we are looking for guests who seek a peaceful place to stay. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 7 am. If you have family members sleeping in the "State Room" and they are light sleepers, please be aware that one wall is shared with the kitchen in the main house, so there might be an occasional early morning microwave sound or quiet conversation. The apartment is over our garage and while it is fairly insulated, you might experience the sound of a garage door opening periodically throughout the day but not usually before 7 am. PRIVACY We are friendly and available, but we also respect your privacy. We would be glad to greet you when you are arrive if you request a quick tour, but otherwise you will be given a door code to let yourself into the apartment upon arrival. We will not enter the apartment space while you are staying with us unless invited to do so or there is an emergency. On occasion the smoke detector may go off (particularly because the stove in the kitchen does not have a hood) in which case we will knock before entering just to make sure there is not a fire. There are no security cameras inside the apartment. However please be aware that there are security cameras outside the apartment in various locations. Additionally, doors connected to the main home are locked and alarmed. If you need us for whatever reason, we will make sure that you have our contact information. GUESTS If you are expecting guests during your stay, please let us know when, for how long and how many to expect so that we can direct you on where to park them and make sure that there are enough sleeping arrangements should they be staying overnight. Please note, however, that parties and events are not allowed under Airbnb rules. CONTACT US! We look forward to hosting people that are a great fit for our space so we will be waiting for an inquiry from you so that we can chat about details.
