Description

Located in Old Town-NOTL, we are a Traditional B&B. Hence, as this is also our home, please ensure that BEFORE making a Booking Request you: 1] have read the ADDITIONAL House Rules; 2] send us details of all DIETARY RESTRICTIONS and 3] provide us the FULL NAMES of the occupants, ..... For a better perspective, we request guests to review the full listing - not just the guest reviews/photographs. Kindly note an extra CAD$25/- is charged for one-night bookings. Thanks for your interest. The space We are located in a quiet neighbourhood within the Old-Town region of NOTL. There are few restaurants & pubs very close by (two to five minutes walking distance) and include – the Sand Trap Pub and Grill, Ginger, Butlers Bar and Grill and Tim Hortons. The B&B has three guest rooms (Earl Grey, Darjeeling and Orange Pekoe) which are usually individually rented and hence lockable. This is one of six listing for the same property on Airbnb and is limited to renting the Orange Pekoe room. Rental of the Earl Grey room and the Darjeeling room are NOT included in this listing. All the rooms have their own private and ensuite bathroom and have WIFI, TV-DVD, kettle, complimentary tea sachets, hair dryer, bathroom amenities, towels, etc. The Orange Pekoe room has a Queen bed and a rocking chair. The Orange Pekoe room is excellent for guests staying for a couple of nights and can accommodate a maximum of two people. The Darjeeling room, which is not included in this listing, has two Extra Long Single beds (which are almost always setup as a regular King bed), a three-seater sofa and two rocking chairs. The Earl Grey room which is also not included in this listing has a King bed, a three seater sofa and one rocking chair. For breakfast a full continental breakfast is provided. Breakfast service is between 8:30 to 10:00 am though limited adjustment can be made for guests having to depart earlier. The dining area has a large eight seater table. This setup results in interesting breakfast conversations, and more often than not breakfast concludes with excellent solutions being found for the various challenges facing our world. The continental breakfast comprises: juice, fruit yogurt, cut fruit, cereal, assorted bread and muffins, assorted cheese, cold cut (non-veg); homemade jams and tea/coffee. There is a Guest Lounge which can comfortably seat six. It is a good place to relax and read a book or play board games. The Guest Lounge has a mini-fridge which guests can use to chill their beverages or keep their perishables food items. There is a coffee making machine at the Guest Lounge and is for the guests to use for pre-breakfast coffee. The house has a large backyard, which we are hoping to complete (to perfection) within the next 30 years!! Guests are welcome to use the backyard as and when they please. It is a nice place to sit and enjoy your beverages, snacks, play board games, chit-chat, read a book, lie on the hammock and take a snooze, ……..etc. When using the backyard, guests are requested to be careful as there are an abundance of loosely placed river rocks, slate, tiles, twigs, bricks, etc.; note that the areas are not lit in the night; and make sure their activities do not disturb the neighbours or other guests residing in the B&B. Free onsite parking is provided – one parking bay for each room. Guests with electrical cars or large vehicles should let us know the same at the time of making the reservation, allowing us to advise them of potential limitation. There is also a dedicated cycle stand at the side of the building. Guests would need to bring their own locking mechanism to secure their bicycles to the stand. Guest access At a macro level, we are a short walk (1.4 to 1.8 km) from downtown Queen Street. Guests can either walk into town (about 20 minutes) or call for a Taxi/Uber, take your car or take your cycles. Zoom Cycle Rental is located within five minutes walking distance from the B&B. The Shaw Festive Theater is about a 30 minute (2.5 km) walk and the Royal George Theater is about a 20 minute (1.4 km) walk into town. During season car parking spots are difficult to find so proximity to town is an important consideration for theater goers. As stipulated by local bylaws, we as managers of the B&B are required to reside on the property. The house has two levels and we reside in the lower level while the B&B section is on the upper level. The B&B section (the three bedrooms, guest lounge, and dining area) is well separated from our area and allows for private ingress and egress. Guests who reserve all three rooms effectively get the B&B section of the house all to themselves. Each reservation is provided with a unique code to unlock the main door so once we have received and checked in the guests, they are free to come to, and go from the B&B as they please. In addition, we as far as possible try to avoid using the B&B’s area where possible to enhance guests’ privacy. For security purposes, this code is changed after the guest has checked-out. The Guest Lounge and the mini refrigerator is common to all guests. The backyard can be accessed by leaving from the front door and walking along the side of the building. Guests are requested/expected to leave these common areas as they found them. Our license and insurance does not allow guests access to the laundry and kitchen/cooking facilities. During your stay In case of any queries please ask. At worst we will not know (but will try to find the answer) and at best you may suffer from an information overload!! Other things to note During peak season (mid-June to end-September) it is recommended that you make reservations for dinner and wine tours well in advance as the restaurants tend to get busy and wine tour companies tend to be fully booked. The Niagara on the Lake Golf Course is 9-hole par 36 link styled course and has the oldest operating Golf Club House in North America. The Club House is open to general public for all meals. The golf course gets busy during season and it is best to book your Tee Times well in advance (possibly 2 plus months in advance). If you enjoy theater, we recommend that you look into the performances staged by NOTL's Shaw Theater. Purchasing tickets well in advance and for multiple shows is likely to get you better prices. The town also has a number of wineries, vineyards, a variety of orchards as well as some breweries. A few of the wineries and vineyards are located along the Niagara Parkway which also serves as a nice place to cycle or walk along or have a picnic. NOTL is also very congenial to cyclists - both recreational and performance related. Niagara Falls is only a 25 minute drive when taking the scenic Niagara Parkway/River Road route and some guests also cycle to the falls (about 28 kilometers one way) and some even to Fort Erie via the Niagara Parkway (about 60 kilometers one way). The Niagara Parkway/River Road runs parallel to the Niagara River from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Along the Niagara Parkway/River Road, enroute to and at the Niagara Falls, some of the key attractions you may wish to consider looking into are Fort George and a few other historic buildings/sites (Laura Secord Homestead, Mackenzie Printery and Newspaper Museum, ....), the Butterfly Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, the whirlpool golf course, the Niagara Glen (excellent nature walks a the banks of Niagara River), the WildPlay Adventure Course (an adult Jungle Gym), the Whirlpool with its aero car, the Bird Kingdom, the Horn Blower and the Tunnel.
