Granite Hill Cottage | Couples Retreat | Hot Tub

The Granite Hill Cottage is a cozy rail workers’ home that has been lovingly transformed into a couple's retreat. It includes a private hot tub, massage area, & workspace with wifi. Across the road from The Cove Marina with boat launch, this is a friendly spot to explore all of Muskoka. Minutes from towns of Port Carling & Minett, for fine dining, local grocers, LCBO, golf, spas, beaches & marinas. The GHC is for train lovers - there is a rail line close by and trains pass and blow their horn. The space The GHC is a former railway workers’ home nestled on a granite ridge. 'The Cove' Marina on Lake Joseph is approx. 800m across Highway 169. In the summer it offers lake access, a boat launch, Shaw's Ice Cream Shop, patio, and a small convenience store. (Bringing a boat? Read below). The Good The GHC has been reimagined and renovated in a rustic and modern Canadiana style, with new kitchen, new bath, new acacia wood floors, and woodsy finishings. The main living area is open plan with kitchen, dining and living areas, outfitted with a leather sofa, electric fireplace, new 50" TV, streaming video, and a small desk for working. Down the hall you'll find the primary bedroom with a dresser, and the bonus massage area with a massage table and fresh linens. The Muskoka room in the back is a 3-season room which overlooks the granite outcroppings at the back of the property and allows access to the hot tub, the backyard, BBQ and fire pit areas. The landscape around the GHC is wrapped in the wonders of Muskoka - a series of beautiful granite outcroppings, ancient lichens, succulents and the evergreens that are iconic in the Muskoka Lakes area. Guests are invited to make a bonfire in the firepit. Hot Tub Use You will have exclusive and private use of the hot tub. We ask all guests to agree to the hot tub rules and hot tub waiver as a condition of booking a stay. These can be found in the house rules. Bringing Your Boat For guests interested in bringing their boat to launch on Lake Joseph please visit The Cove Marina's website for details. The marina has a dock and public boat launch. The Not-As-Good The GHC is best suited for train lovers - as there is an active rail line close by and trains are required to blow their horn. Also, the old-fashioned signs with black bears being in Muskoka are telling the truth - please be mindful that we are sharing this area with wildlife. We ask that you keep any food waste indoors, and remove your trash when you leave to prevent our friend Bruce the Bear from coming around and scaring everyone and himself. Lastly, there is a fixer upper within view next door as it is a residential area. Guest access Guests can access all parts of the space.
