Romantic little hideway with stunning views

Hideway in Misty Cliffs with unique views! If you're looking for a pool, air-conditioning or a tv set, you're wrong here - but if you adore the pristine atlantic, a little house in unspoiled nature - this place 51m above the atlantic could be your dream! Sometimes you can observe whales, dolphins or seals surfing the waves, baboons and humming birds - plus most incredible sunsets over a 180° atlantic panorama - all that from the terrasse or garden. The space Nice and simple living room/kitchen (fully equipped) in a modern and bright look, full view on the ocean from all rooms. Upstairs is the large master bedroom with a loft feeling direct under the roof, with a great armchair and a little sofa, plus a little balcony towards the endless ocean. Beautifully designed garden with proteas and other endemic plants - different wooden decks and places to read a book, eat, cook, or just to relax in peace. There’s fibre Internet with WIFI in the house, but please be aware that reliability and speed in South Africa are not the same as in western cities. It’s advisable having a car when coming to Misty Cliffs. It is strictly prohibited to make any fire in our garden. Children must be supervised by adults at all times. Guest access Outdoor braai area with pizza oven. Outdoor shower with hot water and spectacular seaview. There is a separate guest room (with a double bed and with private bathroom) downstairs and with separate entrance and no direct access to the main floor. There is a large outdoor space with different spaces and terraces etc, nevertheless the lower botanical garden (with a little pavilion underneath the house) is private property and may NOT be entered by guests, also for safety reason. Other things to note This is an ideal location for nature lovers, who also like simple but great design. You can enjoy long walks along the shore or up the hills, take great bicycle rides down to the cape, surfing waves nearby. It can get quite windy in the region - and if there’s bad weather- it can get rather harsh on the Cape Peninsula, especially during wintertime. There’s no central heating but in case you face some of the really cold days, little ovens and electric blankets are available in the house. Nearby Witsands beach is a well known kite surf spot. Surf spots near the house: MISTY CLIFFS This is a small rocky beach which is only to be surfed by intermediate surfers. There is a sand bank on the left side of the beach, a small reef in the middle and a right breaking wave in front of the rocks on the right side of the beach. When paddling out one needs to be careful of the rocks and you need to time it right so you don’t get washed back on the rocks. A North Westerly is best for this spot which makes it offshore. SCARBOROUGH There are 3 places to surf at this beach. The rocks run out along the left side of the beach forming what is known as a point break. This can only be surfed by intermediate surfers. You will have to battle the seaweed forest when paddling into the wave. The sand bank is in front also towards the left side of the beach, which creates a hollow wave on good days to get barreled on. The 3rd place is right in front of the car park and is named Battleships. The wave breaks in front of the rocks and runs right towards the beach. Scarborough can only really be surfed by intermediate surfers. The perfect wind for this spot is a South Easterly wind. It is also prone to rip currents so you will have to keep your eye on the beach where you got in the water to stay where you went out. WITSANDS This surf spot is mostly a beach break. There are rocks on the left side of the beach where guys surf that you have to keep your eyes on, and one or two larger rocks in front that are sometimes submersed under water on the high tide. You can spot them from above on the road and can see where to avoid them. The rest of the beach is sandy and on the right side of the beach there is a sand bank called Barclays Bank. The sand banks do shift around and they have to be really good for the wave to run nicely and even be hollow sometimes. This spot to be surfed by intermediate surfers and one also has to be careful of a rip current that runs right down the length of the beach. It is not always there but one needs to watch it from the road to see if it is strong or not. This spot is offshore with a North Westerly wind. CRAYFISH FACTORY This is a big wave surf spot and can be accessed from paddling out from the Crayfish factory at Witsands. It can be surfed from 8 foot – 25 foot and only a few guys who know what they are doing surf it on the big days. It breaks in front of the outer rocks and runs right. This spot also works on a North Westerly wind. *** 5 night minimal stay.
