The Cottage at Hoffman Barn is a freestanding modern studio cottage located on what was once a dairy farm. The cottage is filled with eclectic art and modern appliances. Outside, your private deck is surrounded by mature specimen trees, birds and nature! You will love the charming waterfall patio and freedom to walk most of the four acre property including visits to goats and chickens at the stable. Most amenities needed for a lovely private getaway or a productive business trip are included. The space The cottage is located next to a 200 year old bank barn where your hosts reside. The two buildings are separated by outdoor stone steps that rise from the double Airbnb parking area in the driveway. The cottage is a large open space with separate cozy living, kitchen/dining and sleeping areas and a full bathroom. There are eight large windows and a Coppola skylight so by day the cottage lets in loads of natural light with views of waterfall and open vistas. By night there are room darkening shades for sleep. The kitchen comes complete with glasses, plates, silverware, pots/pans, corkscrew and other basic culinary staples; Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, cooking oil, basic spices and a freshly laid eggs! The granite Dining table and heavy duty chairs easily double as a workstation. The Living area has a big comfy couch, arm chairs, table, bookcase filled with reading materials and a Roku TV with access to basic and many premium channels. The lovely gas fireplace is the perfect touch in the cold winter months. The marble, stone and tile bathroom has a large walk-in glass shower complete with botanical shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The bedroom area includes the Queen bed, two nightstands with charger plugs. The armoire with some empty drawers, has games, extra linens, towels iron/ironing board, blow dryer, first aid kit, flashlights and more +++. Out on the deck is lounge furniture and BBQ gas grill. Guest access Guests will have access to a majority of the property including the grass paddocks, stable, stream, rolling lawn, and the area behind the cottage itself. We ask guests to respect the owner's private space on far side of the barn. Other things to note There is a huge variety of things to do, places to venture and resturants to wine and dine nearby. There is a detailed guidebook in the cottage with lots of tourist information to help plan your days and nights. We are located less than a mile from Marsh Creek State Park. The Lake is actually a beautiful freshwater man-made reservoir. There are hiking and biking trails around the lake and rentals are available for sailing, paddle boarding, kayaks, canoes, and fishing (small electric motor boats). No swimming is allowed. :( Important Pre-booking note: In order to access the cottage, one must climb up a large set of outdoor steps made of natural stones. These stairs have varying heights and may pose a challenge for some people. This is the only way up to the cottage from your car. Regarding Dogs...We are "well behaved" dog friendly! Please note we do have a two dog or 75 pound total weight limit. There is easy outdoor doggie bathroom access and the outdoor deck can be "enclosed" to keep pups close by. We leave Dog towels, blankets and a cover on couch when dogs visit. The cottage has a full generator so should power fail, you are covered. Something fun to try...right next door. She has a long history of teaching art and she can arrange a private or small group watercolor class by appointment.
