Double cabin on crystal clear lake
Two adjoining cabins just 25 feet from beautiful Embden Lake. It is a great way to share a vacation with friends or family, maintain some privacy and avoid having to pay full price for two separate cabins. The cabins are connected by adjoining door. The space The cabins are mirror images of each other, but one cabin has an open deck with picnic table and the other has a great screened porch with sofa, chairs and a large picnic table - bonus room! Each cabin has two bedrooms and a loft. The bedrooms have one double bed and three queens. One loft has two double beds, the other a double bed and futon sleeper. Each cabin has a fully-equipped kitchen, living room and bathroom. Both cabins are comfortably furnished in traditional Maine camp decor. Linens and towels are provided at no extra charge. Guest access There is a key in a cypher lock box on cabin door. Other things to note Embden Lake is a crystal clear, spring-fed pond - great for swimming and kayaking. It's not unusual to see bald eagles flying over the lake and you'll certainly hear loons crying every evening. There is a common swimming dock and beach just a stone's throw from the cabins. We have two tandem kayaks and one single kayak. There are many opportunities for day hikes including waterfalls and amazing vistas. Houston Brook Falls are a short 15 minute drive and short hike in to the falls. North Star orchid is just 30 minutes away - great apple picking in the fall. Moosehead Lake and the town of Greenville are only one hour away. There are several antique stores, restaurants and unique shops en route and in the town proper. We highly recommend stopping at Spring Creek BBQ in Monson on the way to Moosehead for the best pulled pork sandwiches in New England. You can also catch the Appalachian trail there or climb Borestone Mountain. Do not miss Lakewood Theater, just a few miles from the cabins. Here you can step back over 100 years in time to enjoy dinner and a play or children's theater at America's oldest summer theater. There is also a golf course.
