Two adjoining cabins just 25 feet from beautiful Embden Lake. It is a great way to share a vacation with friends or family, maintain some privacy and avoid having to pay full price for two separate cabins. The cabins are connected by adjoining door. The cabins are mirror images of each other, but one cabin has an open deck with picnic table and the other has a great screened porch with sofa, chairs and a large picnic table - bonus room! Each cabin has two bedrooms and a loft. The bedrooms have one double bed and three queens. One loft has two double beds, the other a double bed and futon sleeper. Each cabin has a fully-equipped kitchen, living room and bathroom. Both cabins are comfortably furnished in traditional Maine camp decor. Linens and towels are provided at no extra charge. There is a key in a cypher lock box on cabin door. We are available if needed via cell phone. Our cabins are part of what was once a kids camp in the 1940’s, then converted to a proper New England resort “Embden Lake Resorts” where the cabins were rented by the night/week complete with summer stock theater and lobster bakes. We vacationed there before the cabins were sold and the property became an association of private owners. Our cabins are part of a large building that was converted from the dining hall during the camp days. The resort renovated and created two adjoining cabins (ours) with a third cabin under the same roof- not accessible. Our cabins are located in a cottage community with a common swimming area with swim dock and small sandy beach for easy access. Boat slips are also available. All connected by paths that wind by the lake. Our cabins have direct lake access via natural stone steps (note- natural and not uniform!) and a private campfire area. We have one Webber grill-charcoal. The price quoted is for both cabins together by the week, Saturday to Saturday. The three night minimum is for shoulder months. We rent by the week June- August but shorter stays will be considered if possible. Please ask! If only one cabin is required we can work that out if available. We offer a 10% to returning guests! We are located 2 hours from Portland ME. There is no public transportation, but car rental is available at the airport. ***There is on-site parking for two cars Embden Lake is a crystal clear, spring-fed pond - great for swimming and kayaking. It's not unusual to see bald eagles flying over the lake and you'll certainly hear loons crying every evening. There is a common swimming dock and beach just a stone's throw from the cabins. We also share a playground with swings, slides, etc. There are many opportunities for day hikes including waterfalls and amazing vistas. Houston Brook Falls are a short 15 minute drive and short hike in to the falls. North Star orchid is just 30 minutes away - great apple picking in the fall. Moosehead Lake and the town of Greenville are only one hour away. There are several antique stores, restaurants and unique shops en route and in the town proper. We highly recommend stopping at Spring Creek BBQ in Monson on the way to Moosehead for the best pulled pork sandwiches in New England. You can also catch the Appalachian trail there or climb Borestone Mountain. Do not miss Lakewood Theater, just a few miles from the cabins. Here you can step back over 100 years in time to enjoy dinner and a play or children's theater at America's oldest summer theater. There is also a golf course.
