The gite has a fully-equipped, self-catering kitchen, comfortable living room and two, tranquil bedrooms for up to four people. There's an outdoor dining area and secure bike garage too. A proper getaway, ideal for road cycling, mountain biking or walking holidays, yet only 15 minutes from the town of Prades, or 10 minutes walk from our village café. Guest access Les Deux Hirondelles has a big, open-plan downstairs, with kitchen, dining area and living space. Upstairs there's the master bedroom (with Juliet balcony), bathroom and the twin room. Just out of the big living room sliding doors is your own outdoor deck, with table and seating for four (plus visitors!) surrounded by bushes, flowers and bamboo. Just peek over the wall and you'll see 2800m Canigou mountain as it lights up with the evening sunshine. At the end of our gravel courtyard, a grassy lane leads deep into the fields and wooded hills that surround our village. Or head across the village lane and explore the old road, with the ancient church, the restored stone village lavoire (public laundry from the era before washing machines) and boules court. A short walk brings you to the village café, which should be open for the summer by the time you read this! Other things to note We are Beate and Chipps, a German/British and British/British couple, who bought Les Hirondelles in 2022. The previous owners, Mike and Penny, had bought it as an old barn and farmhouse in the early 2000s and had the vision to renovate it into a house with three, beautiful, self-catering gîtes. After running them successfully for 15 years, they've both retired locally and we've taken on their legacy. We moved here as we love the mountains and we love riding our bikes here (and walking our dog, Jess, too). We can't wait to point you towards all of the great road, trails and cafés that we're continuing to discover.
